We moved a couple months ago. About a week and a half before the move I call to schedule my disconnect. They said that they couldn't get a technician out there for like 3 weeks. So they said to leave the equipment (cable boxes and modem) in the apartment. We leave it in the apartment and the maintenance guy let them in to get it. (we talked to the maintenance guy after they said we never gave it back). I talked to a lady and she said she would send a request to search for the equipment. Now I am getting calls and they are saying "we notice you have chosen to discontinue your service with us... blah blah blah.... our records show you still have comcast and equipment and we would like to help assist you in the return of the equipment." Now they already know I don't have the equipment. I don't know if people aren't reading the call logs or what. Basically I feel like they are pawning their misplacing the equipment on me. They want me to pay over $800 because they don't show the equipment was returned.

My dad did the same thing after we moved....Originally posted by NewbieChris View PostI made sure to drive the stuff back to the Comcast store when I shut down my account from my fraternity. They are annoying as hell that is for sure.
One day after work, he drove out to our hold home, picked up the stuff, drove to a local comcast store and told them to stick up their ass's
We continued to get those stupid notices mailed out, than my dad called and told them to check their assholes, and they found it and never sent mail again.

That's my problem. My wife drove back to the apartments to see if it was still they or if the office had it. That's where the maintenance guy was and he said they came and picked it up. So now there obviously is some technician that lost it, stole it, or didn't turn it in right and they want to charge me for it.

I am sorry shib but that is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
#1. Why do you need a technician to give back your equipment? You are supposed to take your cable box, modem, etc.. to the comcast place and they give you a receipt.
#2. Did you really think it was a good idea to leave all your shit in your old apartment and trust some idiot comcast installer?
lol, sorry to come down so hard on ya bro but honestly, i knew what you were fucked when you said, "So they said to leave the equipment (cable boxes and modem) in the apartment. " lol

The apartment complex has a contract with comcast and the cable is included with the rent. One box stays with the apartment. I had added internet and a DVR box. If they told me too leave it in the apartment then why shouldn't I leave it there? Maybe a small bit of their stupidity I brought on myself but some of this stuff is new to me as far as dealing with a lot of utility companies and stuff. I can't do anything about that now and obviously I have learned that I shouldn't have listened to them. But thanks for pointing it out for those who can't connect the dots of my post on their own. The thing is that both the boxes, including the one that stays with the apartment, was gone.Last edited by Shibby; 04-02-08, 03:51 AM.

I have switched back and forth from comcast a few times. And everytime they never sent anyone to disconnect anything it was always my job to unscrew the boxes and take them back. If your apartment complex had a contract then one of your boxes would have been in their name right? I know I would have taken everything that was in my name with me. Im shocked they didnt have you take the boxes to your new place.

I understand why you would leave it there, the company instructed you to leave it. Customer service is terrible, I guess you were expecting that Comcast was honest and that its majority of employees was also, sorry to hear it Shib, the time where one could expect honest good customer service is gone. Fight them till the death.

I think some common sense was in order here. Never trust someone else with something that could cost you money.Originally posted by Shibby View PostThe apartment complex has a contract with comcast and the cable is included with the rent. I bet the comcast guy took your box home with him and connected it. Either that or he sold it.
Live and learn bro, dont trust your things with someone else. Its really going to be a pain in the ass dealing with Comcast. You will talk to one person and then the next person you talk to will have no clue.
