  • My old friends, I need your prayers, my father has passed.

As most of you who know me know my father was very sick last year around July/August. I haven't seen him since July of last year and he was hoping to make his way back to around where I live to visit me and 1 of my brothers, but he never made it. He passed away on April 1st at around 10:30 p.m. He wasn't feeling well that day and he went to sleep and then just never woke up. A part of me is gone forever, my father did a lot of wrong, but he would give the shirt off his back if need be. His body is in Florida and we are waiting on it to get flown back to Louisiana and the wake should be sunday and the funeral monday. This is the first time I have lost someone this close to me ever so it's pretty rough. Please pray for him and the rest of my family. I miss you all and hope to be back here regularly in the near future. God bless you all and never take life for granted, "Here today, gone tomorrow" is oh so true.

Sorry to hear it. We are here to listen if you need us. Maybe just to talk about nothing or even share something that maybe you can't share to those in your life outside the board. See you soon.

Tomorrow all of my brothers and sisters will be here, it will be the first time ever we have all been together, we've had many family gatherings but there was always 1 that couldn't make it. This time finally it will be all 6. It is getting easier day by day, but I know when I see him in a casket at the wake for the first time I will lose it. I am trying to distance that thought from my mind for now just so I can sleep, but I know it's coming. My dad accomplished a lot in life as a horse trainer and there will be a write up in the daily racing form about his passing. As I said, he did a lot of wrong, but he taught me right from wrong, he helped me to become who I am. He showed me how to love and it is this love that I hope to pass on to my children some day. I miss him so much. 1 more phone call, 1 more time to see him, 1 last time to say goodbye, but it is all just a wish now. I know I made my peace with him and that eases my mind a little, but I know I'll always wish for one more day with him. I wrote a poem for him and it will be the poem on the card that will be handed out at the funeral. Here it is if you care to read it, and thanks again for all of your support and prayers. I love you guys.

                      The Ever Loving Dad

                      Here today and gone tomorrow
Leaving us brings so much sorrow

The Love you gave is un-compared
So many loved you, so many cared

You had your faults and your flaws
                      But always helped another’s cause

You gave yourself to all you met
                      Your legacy is forever set

You walked through life your own way
You stayed the course to never sway

You would give the shirt off your back
To help another and that’s a fact

Liked by many and loved by all
Makes your death a tragic fall

Your body gone, your soul remain
The loss of you brings so much pain

But in this loss we know you’re there
Looking over us with so much care

We’ll cry for you a little while
But the thought of you makes many smile

You may be gone but you’re always near
Helping us to have no fear

I know I’ll see you come some day
But in my heart I’ll always pray

That you’re in heaven up above
Looking down always and sending love
