  • Man Fined For Grunting Too Loud

England: Bodybuilder Giran Jobe of Margate, Kent, was fined by a magistrate for £70 for grunting too loudly and dropping his weights on the floor and upsetting neighbors, despite multiple warnings since last June. In all, 47 complaints were filed.

68-year-old Doris Fox said sleeping was a problem with the 100-decibel noise, measured by city investigators in units downstairs from him. "The noise was so loud that I thought that he had an angle grinder up there." Jobe's punishment baffled him.

"I don't play loud music, I don't have parties and I don't stamp around. All I do is exercise and work out with my weights. I am trying to keep fit. I cannot believe I got taken to court for exercising," he said.

it is not different than someone playing music loud or partying. If he can't see that he is being blinded by bias.

Unless he is doing DL's, I wonder if he really needs to drop the weights anyway. Truth be told, I bet he wanted the neighbors to hear it.

Maybe there are safety reasons to dropping weights, but it kind of annoys me when I'm at the gym to see somebody doing dumbbell bench, incline or military presses and then throw the weight in the floor. I use some decent weight for my size and never drop them. I just don't see the need. Tell me if I'm wrong.
