  • Members that have been to Cancun

I already talked to redsquirrel about this but thought I would get some more ideas from you guys.

Me and sana are thinking about going later in the year. We have been all over the Caribbean but never Mexico. (Well we have been to cozumel on a cruise but it was a shitty day and I was drunk of my ass.)

We want to check out Cancun (not during spring break season) and are looking for some suggestions.

Should we go the All-Inclusive route or no? We have done this in the Caribbean and sometimes the food at the all inclusives is ok at best.

Which resorts do you recommend and which would you stay away from?

    Thanks

omg I haven't been to cancun in like forever, hah. about 8 years ago or more, wow. I would say no with the all inclusive if you are planning on getting out on tbe town. There are tons of places to eat and you can always find a good buffet breakfast type spot that is cheap.

We stayed at the Radisson when we were there, but its not the Raddison anymore.

    :hang:

I stayed at the Cancun Plaza. It is like 1 of 5 Moon Plaza places. It was all inclusive, and I enjoyed it. They had about 4 places to eat on site and at least two always had something going on. I would do all inclusive again, but I'm not a picky eater either.

I think Cancun is a better deal in comparison to the Bahamas & Jamaica.

When you are there I would recomend going on the jungle tour. You get to pick a speed boat or jet ski. The speed boat is great. It is a two seater and you are guided through mangroves hauling ass. You get to go alone andfollow the guide. You then all meet up and tie off in the ocean and scuba dive. it is great.

Also stay away from all the timeshares people when you get off the plane. They will give you free tickets to such tours but they also waste 4 hours of your time trying to sell you stuff.

The market is interesting! It got on my nerves though. They will try to sell you everything from jewerly, drugs, and women. Not my bag. You have to expierence it though.

              Have fun.

As you know, my parents travel a LOT. I asked them - they stayed at an all-inclusive when they went to Cancun and said if they went back, they'd stay in an all-inclusive. Said the food was decent, nice pool, decent beach, etc. I can find out the resort if you're still interested.

She said she can't really think of anything they didn't like. A lot of people would take the bus at night out to the popular clubs, but they did not. She said the resort did a lot of games (like pool volleyball, etc) and stuff. Overall a good trip.

Ive been about 10 times. I dont care for the all inclusives as they keep ya at the hotel too much when there are so many killer places to eat and drink. Look on the net at the 5 star hotels and find a package deal. Ive stayed at a different one every time and as long as they were 5 Star they were awesome.
If ya just want a day snorkling then youn can catch a Ferry that will take you to a lil island called Isla Maheras(Island of women) When y get off the ferry look for locals with a boat that load up about 12 of ya and takes ya on a tour to the inlets etc and let ya snorkel for a bit. Thyre catching fish that they grill for ya when ya get back to the island. The fish is plentiful, caught and on the grill in a matter of 2-3 hrs. Its cheap on the Island too. Cancuns commercialized spots are pricey of course.
If nightlife is what ya want....Check out La Boom and Daddios just to name a couple.
We rented a car and travelled all over. Some of the lil side of the street restaurants on the outskirts are dirt cheap and delicious.
Watch out for people wanting to hook ya up with Blow. Theres plenty down there and is cheap as well.
                          Juice is expensive.
Bring a roll of 1$ bills because they expect a tip for everything.
Some europeans go topless. Thought Id let ya know.
Try to get your hotel within walking distance cause its fun to walk around and not have to drive everywhere.
They will lie to you and tell u that the ice u are getting in ur drink is "Purified" It isnt....take it from me.

                          Have a great time!

I didnt read all of the other posts but you should look into going to Cozumel. It was a bad ass trip (not so touristy) with the best diving I have ever experienced. The visibility was 110ft and they have some really cool dives and beautiful beaches. There are some little resorts to stay at. We rented a little aparment type place and bought our own food and just kind of bummed around the town. Make sure you go deep sea fishing too, that was a blast. We had dolphins swimming next to the boat for miles just checking us out. Let me know if this interests you and I could try to find some more info for you.
