I use to. I bounced at a place called Cowboys Red River in Dallas. Big place lots of fun. I would love to do it again if I was single, but I don't do the night life anymore.

I have bounced in many bars. I love it! My wife bitches when I want to go to the bar and hang out but if I am getting paid to be there she doesnt mind. I tell her I make $50 a night when we really make $80. The only thing I hate doing is checking IDs. I like to roam around and not be stuck on the door.

did it for 12 years then decided to focus more on the day job and have my weekends back, so I can get up late, sleep early if I wish and play xbox

I am stil friends with a few of the guys though, we all kind of quit at the same time (me first) and in some ways I miss the sitting down afterwards together, eating a cold pizza and maybe a beer having a few laughs and then driving home together at like 3:30-4:00 am looking forwards to bed.

I used to do it one night a week for shits and giggles...I found it to be a great place to work out aggression and take in plenty of eye candy. When someone insisted on having to do things the hard way, I was all too happy to oblige them. Plus, being the head bouncer, it was an easy 20 tax-free bucks per hour. The club was in a hotel, and it was sold, so that came to an end earlier this spring. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would; two and a half years of dealing with drunken idiots was enough for me.

That's the part I miss...the other guys...we had a great crew. Nothing like having a few beers after a night when shit hit the fan and the crew took care of business, recounting the ass-kickings you dealt out.

You live in Canada right? So the drinking age is younger then the US so you have alot more problems I would think dealing with 19 years olds. I live near Detroit so when we turned 19 we would go over to Windsor every weekend.

I was always pretty fair, I understood that guys feel they have to show off in front of women etc and those sorts I'd just say 'I don't want to fight but you have to leave, you win but you have to leave. But if they put their hands in me then my temprement changed pretty quick.

And the ones that though they were nasty in the last place we worked soon got a shock, we had a very old school head doorman, and the philosophy fed down the line, if you started fighting the doorman you pay the price simple. The head doorman was maybe 210 about 42 yrs old and a street brawler, been around along time and seen it and he could thrown down real well even after a number of drinks. The rest of us were bodybuilders weighing 230-290 so we had no trouble getting hold of people and wrestling them out and there were 7 of us to start with.

I remember once we were all on the juice and had short tempers, we got so fucked off with the little scrag customer that one night we didn't let most of them in and just got the young barman to keep fetching chicken fillet burgers all night. The next day the head doorman was back and he and the manager told us off, they were like 'you keep turning people away because you don't like them, you eat all night and we have no fucking customers!!

We all started giggling like little children LOL

I remember one night though we through some guys out just as a big group of somalians were coming to the door, that time we had to close the doors since there were like 15-20 people all throwning bricks LOL

i have been offered a few jobs as bouncing, but my parents don't want me taking it, and i didn't feel like working on Friday and Saturday night's....

Seems like most of you guys enjoyed it, i might have to try it out and feel the experience.

It really depends on the place you work at. I worked at a couple where it just didn't feel like you could ever get control of a situation and there was no way to communicate to other bouncers or the owners don't want you really mingling and be more of a force that goes around cleaning up and keeping walkways clear. If you want something to make a little more money, be pretty much as enjoyable and almost a bouncer as a secondary position to the bouncers, you could be a bar back.
