Mexico City trip

Found out today that I'll be going to Mexico City for a week in a couple of months for work. I'm not exactly thrilled. Anybody been before...what suggestions would you have to have a safe trip?

seriously though, Mexico city is big into culture, art, and food. you can have a good time if you plan it well. do some reading on the city.

I had a friend that was from Mexico City. We were going to go before I suddenly moved away (long family story). He said we would have so much fun and the ladies would love me because I am a white American. But in the same area it could really work against me. He said it's very easy to go one block in the wrong direction and thing good go from good to bad fairly easy. Pretty much like any major city. It's all dependent on place and time of day. Other than that the place sounded like a wonderful place.

Nice to hear that it should be somewhat safe. That is my biggest concern. Yeah, since it is work, I don't anticipate getting off the beaten path too much.

Americans tend to think that places outside the US are not safe. the truth is, most places are more safe then america. just like there are bad parts of any state in the US, there are bad parts of mexico.

I think there is a misconception of places outside the US being dangerous because of the danger that comes along with how easy it is to get taken advantage of.

My only advice would be don't get kidnapped. Kidnapping has become a minor industry south of the boarder and in Texas boarder areas. I read that fat people don't get kidnapped so something to think about. Maybe go on a major bulk cycle.

i really don't know what you mean. i have never really feared something just because it is different.
