Maybe it is okay. I may be a little wary, but what 3v posted are things I have in mind. My biggest goal is to not go from that "good" street to that "bad" street. Yes, it can happen in the states. I once went from good st., good st., to bad street while in Baltimore, and in a matter of seconds I thought I was in another world.

Anyway, I'm now looking at all of the necessary precautions such as malaria shots, hepatitis a,b,c, etc., etc. Going to get some upper respiratory and GI tract meds just in case.

Just ask the people at your hotel. Usually they will recommend where to go and where not to go.

I didn't say anything about fearing something because it's different. I was saying that people go to places and want to have a great time. They want to do something different. In looking for something different you could end up scammed, stuck, or fucked.

Mexico is no big deal, just certain places to stay out of just like any were in the world. Main thing about Mexico is stay in the high volume of people place & the american dollar is worth more then the peso. So exchange some of your cash but keep more of it in USA dollars.

Most of the people their love american (kidnappers to because of the money we have vs. them). If you take a cab show them us dollars & pay in us dollars and you will be safe and taken care of. The exchange rate is pretty easy just round it & multiply it. If you pay over altleast you know your life is secure and worth it. Just don't let them talk you out of the rate you know it as. If they try just pay them is peso & they lose the money.

They are all about tourist & tips, tip well to everyone that does a service. Well is the standered 20% here in the US, add a 5 or 20 if at a bar or local spot.

I tiped a bar tender 10 bucks one night & out of the 50 people standing at the bar I never had to wait for a drink for more them a couple min. only just to been seen, and they will ignore everyone else to take care of your needs.

Just try not to ever go more the walking distance that you can walk(drunk or sober) from you hotel & stay on may streets that look like New York streets & you will be fine.

My best friend is currently back-packinging in Quito, Ecuader for the last 6 months & this is 5th backpacking trip & never had any problems as long as he talk to the local large establishments & stay in highly populated areas as far as the safe boubdries. In fact he is head of to Columbia soon, would be expected from a polly sci. grad. from Aaggie land.

Don't want to post much more to clog up the board, however if you would like more tips I will post if requested. I know it is hard to believe a newbie poster mayby Shiby will vouch for me and let it Know I am not speaking out of my a$$ (on some things :P).

Side note bring flea market LEVI jeans & Sport shirts they are worth more then money down their because they can't get them or their to expensive (most don't care about knock offs) I left a $5 pair of jeans for maid service each day & had the best service at the hotel anywere I evey had. Also got ask to trade the NCAA jersey I was wearing for their sister by 4 different people with their sister standing right their.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST BUT INFO IS THE KEY!

LOOL nope but just get you the cheapest PRINT shirts with the any NCAA final four with 100% for shure of the the Champion. Works the same with any division or sport. (all of the women would of been a person on a telamundo game show, just not sure if you would end up with some type of a greenie weeinie. :)

Plus enough english speaking people to ask & then secure yourself to make it with safey glove with a latin hottie or vactiony. You have heard the saying what stay in Vegas stays in Vegas. Well how do you think that goes form zip codes to countries? :p
