  • Dog is having sneezing fits...

My dog is having some crazy sneezing fits. I am hoping it is just allergies, but it would have to be something that just started blooming, this has been going on since Monday. I just get worried. He is still eating his food and drinking water.

Has anyone experienced this before? Maybe all my past dogs have not been sensitive to pollen.

My dog started doing that earlier this year. It is painful to watch. They call it reverse sneezing. I was told that it is allergies. That nasal dripping is causing it to happen.

In my pooch's case, I'm pretty sure he is allergic to grass. He loves it, but we have to stay on him because he'll chew the back of his heels until they're raw. If your dog's allergies are grass, he may do something similar.

When mine starts acting up, I give him a children's benadryl & also try to give him some chondrotin glucosamine which has omega 3's in it. The vet told me the benadryl & EFAs would help the allergies.

Just spent $600 on my boxer to have an allergy screening done. He was digging his ears, legs, face, and stomach open to the point of bleeding. Turns out he is highly allergic to cats, citrus pollen, all grass, mosquitoes and mold. I have to inject him w/a vaccine specifically designed for his conditions. Benadryl helped to a point, but it really made him tired and lazy.

I called the vet and talked with them about the allergy test, I just don't see it being a chronic problem at the moment. He is still eating and drinking, and his behavior hasn't changed, just has a sneezing fit sometimes. It just started this week, so I am just hoping that something new is in bloom and should subside soon.

He is already a lazy Husky, so I don't think I will give him the anti-histamines unless advised by the vet or if the problem persist. I was not that worried, but this is my gf's first time with a dog, and she gets a little worried about minor issues.

I've heard that pollen counts have been near record highs lately, at least around here, so who knows. Our cat will sneeze like 3 or 4 times in a row sometimes. I tell her it's payback for all the times she makes me sneeze. :D

Less sneezing today, going to give him a good bath tomorrow. I talked with the vet, he is still eating and drinking as usual.

Been doing great, thanks for asking. A few rain showers came through, and they helped settle all this crap down.
