This video is 5 min long, but it's worth watching imo. Ted goes on to tell the House how ridiculous it is that it is going to be mandatory for everyone to use CFL light bulbs by 2014. They're ONLY made in China and are very hazardous if broken. He goes over the insane clean up and evacuation procedure if one is broken in the home.

REP. Ted Poe Republican Texas speaking in the U.S. House on the energy savings bill, and the mandatory use of CFL light bulbs. From C-SPAN

Don't shy away because it's 5 mins, political, and about light bulbs. It's more about another step in the downfall of America.

i just watched the whole 5:13 of that video. now i would like to ask you, why did you have me waste my time with that stupid shit? he is ranting about rubbish. 3 minutes of the fucking video is about the cleanup procedure if you break the bulb. every product has procedures written on them like that. kind of like a bag of marbles telling you not to swallow them. lol.

i have those bulbs in my house, never came close to breaking them, they don't cause radio interference or any other nonsense that southern asshole rants about. his main beef is with china. i wish he would have just gotten to that point instead of talking nonsense for the first 4 minutes of the video. his argument about the bulbs being made in china is nothing new.

this video has nothing in it that signifies "the downfall of America". well maybe one thing, the southern asshole that spends his time trying to find problems with energy saving light bulbs and actually makes an argument about edison because he wants to keep his old bulbs. lmao

They are trying to mandate every household having them in their homes by 2014. The fact that they are only made in China is the "downfall of America." They are trying to force you to buy a product that is not even going to benefit the American economy. No shit, things are made and imported from China everyday, but we are not "required" to buy them.

What a dumbass. Develop COAL technology? Could you recommend another form of energy that is MORE polluting? He is right though, that Congress needs to pass more responsible laws. They need to pass laws protecting environmental interest, but they need to do it in a way that allows the market to decide the outcome, not the corporations. Picking an item like this, which really doesn't have a huge impact on anyone is disappointing. We already use fluorescent lights in buildings and some people have the huge lights in their basements.

If he wants American corporations to succeed they need to have the ability to compete with China and other countries or we need to tax imports to make it competitive. What I don't understand is why you would want to do that. It would make products more expensive.

NO SHIT, BUT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED OR FORCED TO BUY THOSE CONSUMER PRODUCTS. DO YOU NEED ME TO DRAW YOU A PICTURE?

Forcing Americans to install products in their home that is ONLY made overseas is ridiculous. If you are going to be required to do this...why not get an American made product. I can't be anymore clear than that you fucking communist.

Unfortunately, there are unionized slobs working in manufacturing in America that think they should be paid 30 bucks an hour to do a job you could train a chimp to do. It's hard to manufacture anything in the USA (or Canada for that matter...same deal here) because labor is just too damn expensive.

America is supposedly one of the few places that has the population, infastructure and labour skills to be completely self sufficient. But they don't because its free trade and they can get stuff cheaper and make more profit, even if its to the detriment of the national economy.

we don't have a choice in England we're too small
