  • Not a good 4th of July night...

It started off ok. We were over at my inlaws house, celebrating both the 4th of July and my future brother in law's birthday. We set off a big ass model rocket, and then fireworks when it got dark. No drinking tonight believe it or not. Well we are on the way home on the highway, and all of the sudden about 20 feet ahead of us was a young looking Jack Russel Terrier. He was frozen in my headlights. With cars behind us, and beside us, in the dark, at highway speeds, there was nothing I could do. I was paying attention to the road, and like I said, I hadn't been drinking. Just one of those times where there was nothing to be done. Even if I would have had time to swirved, it may have very likely ended up with us going off of the road into the guard rail. We felt terrible about the dog, and there was some pretty solid damage to my car.

Here's a shot of the front bumper where we hit the dog.

Here's a blurry shot of the radiator, as it got fucked up.

Here is a close up of the front bumper. It hurts to look at this one because you can still see some of the dog hair.

Here is goes up on the tow truck. The oil pan was on the ground and the radiator was destroyed. Undrivable.

I still feel like a piece of shit because of the dog. I'm still not thinking much about my car. Everyone be careful driving tonight.

Grinder, I know it's consuming you mind right now, but when everything starts to slow down you will be able to understand that these things happen and it's no one's fault. I had an unfortunate incident with my grandparents dog and it got ran over. I was taking care of it but wasn't use to it's quirks and an accident happened because the dog can't think logically. It was just an unfortunate accident.

Could have always been worse ;)

(of course that's always good for me to remember as well)

I had just paid out over $3k on an order including steel rock crawlers, 35" tires and a 6" skyjacker lift about 4 days before this happened - thank goodness I hadn't put any of it on yet or I WOULD be dead - no question about it - I almost rolled at 85mph as it was and the way I clipped the other driver I would have been airborne with ANY type of lift/height added...

Knocked the engine loose and through the firewall, twisted the frame so bad I couldn't get out the side doors and fuel was leaking all over that dry grass - I had nightmares for a while that involved me opening the car door of the lady who pulled out in front of me and she was a bloody mess - I had a hard time dealing with the "what ifs" for several weeks to say the least - must have had yet another angel watching over me that day....
