  • NJ Turnpike driving rules

1- Slowest traffic stays in left lane

2- If a car is changing lanes and gets into your lane directly behind you, hit the brakes

3- If you are obviously blocking traffic from getting through to "open road": Drive at moderate speed in fast lane until you are almost past the traffic, then slow down to under speed limit when there is ALMOST enough room for faster traffic to pass you

4- Stay behind a slow moving car for miles, and when another car is about to pass you decide you would like to pass the car you have been slowly following to block the car that was about to pass

5- If there is any rain or even left over moisture on the road drive at least 10 MPH under speed limit

6- Never gain enough speed to merge with traffic when driving on the on-ramp. Always get on at least 5-10 MPH under to unsure all turnpike traffic slows

7- When you allow a car to pass you immediatly get behind them to make it appear you would like to pass them. When they allow you to pass do so, then slow down in front of them to make them pass you again. Repeat as needed

I had to drive my cousin down to Rutgers this weekend because he needed to pick up a transcript. I figured if we leave early we can get back to NY early......WRONG!!!!! Ride there wasn't bad and we were getting along but after 4 hours on the road back I was ready to murder him:wacko:

where at in NY? no way it was the city. Rutgers (Piscataway) to NYC is a 40 min drive. wont be much beach traffic on the turnpike. so i assume you are talking about traffic that was somewhere else besides the turnpike.

Coming from someone who has driven From NY to Los Angeles, several times, I have to say that NJ and Eastern PA drivers are just about the worst. Driving to my Dads house makes me want to run a soccer Mom driving a huge Escalade XL off the road, pull her out of her car and beat the shit out of her. Every one is so fucking stupid it is unbelievable. Its like the passing lane was designed for people who were born to be fuck heads.

Their inner monologue is: "I don't give a fuck about anything, I'll drive however I want."

It's no wonder people like me cruise down the highway at 90. Once I have the opportunity to leave these fucking retards in the dust, why wouldn't I? Then I get pulled over and talked down to by a cop when 3 giant SUV's with dumb bitches driving them fly by at 80 MPH. At least I could control my car if I had to swerve. These idiots would flip the piece of shit in an emergency.

Some asshole pulled in behind me and infront of another car. The guy who pulled this move was in a Lincoln Navigator and there could NOT have been more than 1.5 ft between his front bumper and my rear. That is dangerous and I don't need his shitty driving endangering my most prized possession. I gave him the finger.

I hate my local drivers, they should all be shot.

I don't know how to translate my anger at terrible drivers into my training yet...

I would think these *rules* would apply to most every major city - my favorite drivers are the ones in the far left lane doing the speed limit and act oblivious to EVERYONE around them...
