  • Dave Matthews Band Sax Player Dies

Personally I think this is sad/tragic. I know musically it certainly is...

" LeRoi Moore, the versatile saxophonist whose signature staccato fused jazz and funk overtones onto the eclectic sound of the Dave Matthews Band, died Tuesday of complications from injuries he suffered in an all-terrain vehicle accident, the band said. He was 46. "

Definitely sad. He was an awesome sax player with a very talented and successful band.

First of all, sad news. Young guy and such a sudden way to go.

Anyway, I know they say famous people die in 3's. Does this count as the 3rd person? It is a well known band, but the guy in particular isnt on an Isaac Hayes or Bernie Mac level as far as that.

I would say no. Just say his name and maybe 1 out of 10 people will know it. I think it says it all in the title that BLM put "Sax Player" and not LeRoi Moore

I'm not saying people wouldn't know him, just that he is not famous. The band is famous. Without getting too caught up in the what bands are as popular as DMB, think about the band mates in the groups like KISS, Maroon 5, Three Doors Down, Rascall Flatts...

That just because a group/band is very popular doesn't automatically make the members popular. Take Good Charlotte, Korn, NIN... Many know the front man but some know maybe a second and few know more than 2 members of a group. Again, for people who like DMB, they are going to know him. Where as Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes, you don't have to follow their stuff much, but you know the names.

Man, so many people get hurt on those ATV's. I will never get on one...I would venture to say they are more dangerous than a motorcycle.

It is just like anything in life, you must be responsible. A lot of people don't wear helmets on ATV's, there is a false sense of security with four wheels.

I have witnessed and have done some pretty ridiculous things on an ATV, I am thankful I never got into a bad accident.

How do you thing Gene Upshaw fits into this discussion? Do you know the name, but not sure why? I would say he is more famous than the sax player, but not the level of celebrity.
