  • Just got word...

....one of my buddies who graduated a year before I did, died on Tuesday. I called another good friend of mine to find out how it happened. It was exactly what I was afraid of... overdose. :dunno:

Makes me thankful that I had a family who instilled solid values in me. He was only 23, smart as hell, and a great ass guy. Just played with fire, and he got burned. Guess I'm still in a bit of shock at this point. Can't really think of much else to say actually. Hope all of you have a blessed and safe weekend.

yep i had a high school friend die this past year of overdose. i used to take him to school back then. to be blunt - i saw it coming a mile away, tried to help him, stopped hanging out with him, and when he died never even went to his funeral - he wasnt the same person i knew back in hs. in my mind he died a long time ago.

It is scary to think of the path in front of you that you could have taken. Just a couple different decisions and...

I had a similar situation. You know how in high school you have the large group of people that you are kind of around and then you have the smaller groups/friends/clicks within that large group. After high school I would see everyone here and there and it would be kind of fun to catch up. Well over time (a few years) you see them less and I had two of those friends (not close fiends anymore) who died of heroin OD and a few more in jail for numerous drug issues. All in all it's tough to think how all of our lives could be different.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I wasn't extremely close to him. Only knew him the 4 years of school, but he was a hell of a guy and everyone knew him it seems like. He was one of those who got along with anyone.

Just scary to see someone so young. Really makes you open your eyes.
