  • question for the video game guys

looking to get a used system. not looking for top of the line, just want something pretty decent. (my last system was a nintendo 64 in 6th grade) i'm not one to get obsessed with games, but i do want something fun and a system that wont break in a few weeks.

saw a few PS2's on craigslist for $100-$150. gonna check ebay too. our local GameStop store has "certified" used X-box's for $59. That includes cables, one controller, the console, and a 30 day guarantee. i know PS3 and x-box 360's are the new thing, but i don't want to spend too much. if the choice was between a regular x-box and a ps2, what would be best? also, how reliable are these used systems going to be, and is there any way to check how good of shape they were in? they all say "gently" used on the ad, but i know people are full of shit these days. thanks for any help and bare with me cuz i know jack shit about video games.

I have a PS2 that you can have if you pay for shipping. It is the old bulky one, and it has a mod chip in it, so that prevents me from being able to sell it on Ebay or to a game store. It is just sitting in the closet, and I will honestly never play it again.

I bought a used PS3 off Ebay and it has been fine, no problems from it at all.

PM me about it. Don't know what a mod chip is. Definately might be interested. Also might keep looking around and see if I can get a PS3 or Xbox 360 cheaper than i originally thought.

Don't get a PS3, I only use mine for Blu Ray.

If you use the Blue Ray frequently, PS3 is the way to go. It's not much more than a stand alone BR player and the media manager options are great as well. Top it off with the fact it's a computer/game console it truly is an awesome machine.

Hopefully that is with some games and extra controllers considering a new PS2 is only $129.

A modded PS2 for free is about the best deal you'll find, period.

They have to in order to compete. No Blue Ray and you have to pay $50 per month for online when it's free w/PS3...that's a big deal.
