  • Best antivirus?

Best anti-virus ever? Hmm... (Unplug your ethernet cable = Best anti-virus ever) j/k ;p

Well, AV you found is the best?

For me? um.. If you are looking for free version and wholetime free-type of anti-virus, you can choose AVG Anti Virus which is available to download from the avg official website and other freeware website.

I'd say NOD32 if your extremely paranoid, other wise go for AVG. Without a shadow of a doubt AVG is reckoned to be one of the best, beating Kapersky and Norton among others in a recent test.- can't beat those hourly updates.

NOD32 uses less resources, and AVG is slightly better at finding viruses.

I think at this point, most of the virus programs have the same extra crap but I will say I especially hate norton. They tend to be the resource hoggers of all resource hoggers. Maybe avg 8 will do the trick for everything but I haven't tested it enough to know. All I know is that avg 8 and spyware doctor don't get along anymore.

Be aware that its only an Antivirus, without firewall and other stuff.. if you want a good firewall in combination with it, light and secure try sygate.

At the moment I'm using ESS(Eset Smart Security) which is still not officially released, but it should be released pretty soon as its already in RC1 phase. I haven't seen any serious bugs while I was testing even the ALPHA and BETA versions, so I guess it would be a nice av security product. ESS contains antivirus firewall and some antispam protections. If you can wait for a month or two for ess to be released, I think you won't be disappointed.

On the other hand, you can try out the Bitdefender either only Antivirus version or Internet security or Total Security version which can obtain or purchase from their bitdefender website.

Pro of using bitdefender are those who doesn't want their anti virus software to chew up their memory resources, this one doesn't even chew, and you won't notice at all.

Con: Its not free if you want the whole full feature.
