  • BLM (or anyone) I need help with ccSvcHst

I get this delay during shutdown.

I personally don't have any experience with it, but seems you're not alone...

CCsvchst.exe error message during shutdown .. - CNET Spyware, viruses, & security Forums

Try some of the suggestions and see if it leads you anywhere.

Yeah I read that all that before posting. It seems to be a Norton problem and nothing seems to fix it, it all seems random. Fueck.

Agreed. Almost every computer that I work with and has issues...has Norton and the problems stem from there.

What would you recommend for a free program?

I took Norton off last night and the problem was gone. I added AVG, we will see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

                    AVG is good

Avast is also good. FREE avast! antivirus 4.x Home Edition, anti-spyware & anti-rootkit for Windows

i like avira best. Free antivirus - Avira AntiVir

AVG - never had any issues

Avast - tons of issues while installed and while downloading in order to install.

Avira - pain in the ass...

NOD32 - awesome (never tried it until it was mentioned in a previous post, but beats them all hands down.

In terms of ease of use, out of sight out of mind, and performance for most people I'd say AVG.

Norton is just too hands on for most people. If you don't have all the settings just right you'll forever be trying to figure out random issues.

Yes that is definitely a problem with the latest update. Actually the reason I tried the NOD32.
