  • If ever there was someone out of shape....

    it is me!

Due to circumstances known as life, I have been out of the gym for exactly 8 months. I'm talking no gym, no exercise, no diet, NOTHING. :hmm:

So yesterday I decide I want to at least resume some level of normalcy in my life, and figured exercise is a great place to start. I decide to go rollerblading. Not only am I going to rollerblade, I'm going to push my son in his stroller - a good 50 lbs of weight with him and the stroller. Not only am I going to push him, I'm going to go where the terrain is all up and down.

2.2 miles later..........I think I'm going to die! :hang:

I really like rollerblading - and had such a fantastic "teacher" (by fantastic I mean "come on you've roller SKATED before, let's go", as he skates UP hill ). But this was ridiculous. I felt SO out of shape it was pathetic! :staypuff:

I should add that my lack of "diet" wasn't even that I was eating all that terribly - more that I just wasn't eating. I dropped down to 113 lbs and just had no desire to eat - ever. :dunno:

Pictures lol - I'm sure people were like "geez I can walk way faster than that and she's on skates" lol...

I will go alone, I just don't want to not go if I'm not alone - know what I mean?

I've been there...Did something stressful happen? That's how I get when I get stressed- I don't eat. My jeezum, girlie- 113 lbs is thin!

BTW- don't feel so bad. I've been making it to the gym about 3 days a week for about a month now. But, yet- if I go down and up the 2 flights of stairs in my house, I am winded for a good 10 minutes!

I did exactly the same thing, I was totally stressed at work because of some major acquisitions and I stopped working out and eating. Fear not though you will come back to shape in record time because of muscle memory. Not eating will exhaust you and trick your body into holding fat. laying off for an extended period is not horrible as long as you resume at some point. It seems as soon as you get your rhythm back it becomes easier to stay in your routine. Don't beat yourself up to bad Life happens to all of us

Hey life happened to me and now after about 13 years of piss poor exercise I have been back on track for more then a year and have surpassed any previous fitness level. I even have abs that can be seen for the first time in my life. (Thanks to some great diet advice from this board) I cardio with my kids all the time I love to have them with me so we can talk and it helps instill in them my ideals about health and fitness. It also gives them time alone with me and they feel like they can talk to me. Stick with it you will be surprised at how fast your body will remember what it needs to do. I know I was.

glad to see everyone is getting back into the swing of things. you dont realize how much exercising helps mentally. if i didnt have the gym, i would be in jail, not doubt.

Yes, it was absolutely stress-induced. I've added about 7 pounds back though :staypuff:

Cardio with the kids is great. I make mine exercise whether they want to or not, lol. I actually went rollerblading with my daughter the other day, she loved it and of course it was great for both of us. :)

Are you seriously making fun of me ?? I had no need to coach you - you did just fine :hmm:

And just to clear this up - we were between an uphill and a downhill slope and we started off downhill - NOT uphill :moon:

you should probably go with your instincts and just kill yourself. :)

seriously though, the gym calms me and makes me a nicer person. for some reason, if i am away from the gym for a few days for a vacation or whatever, i change. i get mean and view the world in a bad light. some mental issue there i am sure of it. lol
