  • Met-Rx 2008 Worlds Strongest Man Competition

It was on ESPN2 all day yesterday so I recorded them while I was gone. Just a heads up will probably be showing again over the next few days. Haven't watched them yet.

Glad to see an increase in the number of american contestants...has been lacking in recent years.

Last US competitor to win was Phil Pfister in 2006. Before that Kasmir in 82

There was quite a few brits that competed I think 2 made it into the final

Derek Poundstone I think will soon be the new champion only 26yrs old 6'1" 311lbs.

Mariusz seemed to be off on his game after his calf injury in the fingal fingers.

I know since 2002 when stronman was brought into the olympic commitee they have been tested for illegal substances but c'mon, Poundstone, Pudzianowski , and Knee (over the course of 3 years he put on like 60lbs. of muscle) And looked like he got some gyno after reviewing some past strongmans and his documentary on MTV. I personally think that no sport should be tested for substances it is just part of playing to win. I feel its more unfair that some players are gettin away with it and others aren't.

                      Just my observations...

The thing is they can decide who they test or what results they publish, Pudgy doesn't feature in the Arnold Classic and a couple other series, the wod is that this is because of a fallout in contract negociations where usually they hold your blood test over you as blackmail and he wouldn't play ball so they threw the bok at him and banned him
