How new is your tv? There are a few different types of connections that are possible from a computer to tv.

What kind of tv and what kind of computer?

I stream music and video to my tv using my xbox 360 as my receiver. Streaming from your computer can be done with a lot of different software, but you need something to receive the stream. Your tv alone can't do it.

Just using my imac and 360 on a wireless network, I found this program the other day Connect360 which is doing the streaming for me. It was only $20, so I figured what the hell. I now don't have to upload new music on the ipod that I did use for the entertainment system.

If you have Windows media then you can stream yours for free.

You can still do it. My friend has that exact same setup. Go click the Media Center buttons on your 360, it should do most of the work for you.
