Most people are nervous when doing anything new. You will be fine. I would never pay $140 a month unless there was someway I would end up making money from it. I wouldnt waste that money just to learn how to do stuff that in normal life I would never do. You dont see many armbars in a barfight. Punch harder then he punches you is all you need to know for everyday life....lol Good Luck!!

As everyone else said, they don't chuck you in so you get beaten, it's a gradual process. You start with other beginners then move to an advanced class when you're ready. Just do it, stop thinking and do it. Also as everyone said, most places give you a free class to try it out. DO IT!

bro. watching it on tv is not the same as watching it where they are trying to teach you. just go and watch and learn, dont be afraid to jump in and attempt the moves. but the first weeks or so you will be doing conditioning not fighting. depends on school you go to. class run from $120 to $200 a month unlimited classes. you can go all day if you want. the teacher and pro you will work with understand you are new so when you ask them to show you a move they will slow it down and teach you and respect you a little more cause your not some wanna be tuff guy who knows it all. go to the classes and have fun. i do. shits awesome

Aside from conditioning, one of the very first things you learn is how to fall properly which sounds simple but takes time to come 'naturally' simply because in a panic situation you naturally try to catch yourself which ultimately leads to injury.

I took wrestling in high school, and i loved it. I purposely would wrestle the heavy weights and have them kick my ass. Than during the matches when i wrestled my weight class, i would kick their ass, haha...

I loved the conditioning after practice. its so good for you, keep your endurance up, and you won't get tired during the end of the fight.

Anyway, give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

As of right now this is on hold for money purposes. Not only am I barely breaking even with bills and what I'm being paid, but our location isn't doing great work-wise. Job security isn't what I'd like it to be. $150 a month extra might push me into spending more than I am making.

You can tell me I'm making excuses and thats fine. I actually did some grappling with a buddy who has been doing BJJ for a while in his living room. I was tired as shit afterwards, and I got choked out once, but it was a fucking blast. As soon as things change economically I'm going up there.

                      Why so defensive before response?

I'd stick with that until finances allow otherwise. Good training isn't cheap by any means.

Well I wrote out the response without the disclaimer, and when I read it... it just looked like I was making excuses. Was just covering my bases. :D
