  • Obama ready to talk to Iran

    Progress playboy!

DUBAI (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said that America was prepared to extend a hand of peace to Iran if it "unclenched its fist" and that the time was ripe for Israel and the Palestinians to resume peace negotiations.

Choosing an Arab television station to broadcast his first formal TV interview as president, Obama also sought to heal U.S. ties with the Arab and Muslim world, telling them "Americans are not your enemy."

During the eight-year administration of former President George W. Bush, U.S. relations with many Arab and Muslim nations were damaged by the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and Bush's initial reluctance to push for Israeli-Palestinian peace.

"It is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think in terms of what's happening with Syria or Iran or Lebanon or Afghanistan and Pakistan," he told the Dubai-based satellite channel Al Arabiya.

This should be interesting: (They below may be offensive to some, but it is simply satire to the rest of us)

Ackmablahblahblah: "America needs to stop interfering with middle east affairs"
Obahma: "You can't just destroy Israel, and we don't trust you with the nuke"
Ackmablahblabhblah: "Israel must be destroyed to gain peace in the middle east"
Obahmaa: "You can't just blow up Israel. Its not gonna happen"
Ackmadblahablahdad: "You betrayed your muslim routes to the jewish zionists and the immoral America"

    Round and round we go...

On a more serious note, you really believe he is going to change America, don't you?

I think he's got to strike a balance.

Offer them the potential of 'the carrot' if they behave in a civilized manner, but be sure to let them know that he's not afraid to use 'the stick' if they don't.

i believe that the world views us a bit differently with obama in office. i believe the "feel and hope" in America right now is much better then it has been in some time.

i think the choices he makes will lead to a better America.

so the short answer is yes, but not in the sense that you are trying to paint the picture of what i am saying.

He may not be as succesful at changing America as you would, but we have to play the cards we've been dealt. Unfortunately only you have all the answers but you weren't on the ballot. ;)
