  • Since BigFella *tried* to throw me under the bus....

about not being in the gym as much lately. :spank:

I've been sick a lot lately (actually on/off for a year now) and recently had some blood work done. I have an enlarged spleen, low white blood cell count, and it lit up for strep and mono.

alwaysgrowing - didn't you have mono a couple of months back? Are you back on track?

I don't know if I should lay off the gym for awhile, or just stick to cardio and taking it easy, or what? I've been dealing with this for SO long that I really just want it to go away - so whatever will speed up the process!

Well who said I was out of shape anyway? :P

The doctor said I couldn't play football, lol. He said no contact sports because of the spleen, lots of rest and fluids. I guess I should have asked him specifically. I plan on keeping up the cardio at least.

The place was packed. I wasn't about to stand around and wait for someone to get their ass off the equipment. Besides, I was tired. :hang:

Rest Rest Rest FB your body needs to recover. You dont need to rush it. You have a great body it will bounce right back if it goes off track.

when you say sick, what do you mean. like tired, runny nose, sore throat type thing? did the doc give you any meds etc? what did he say about the mono?

I mean fever, exhaustion, sore throat (sometimes) - the fevers are what made me look into it more. He gave me an antibiotic to treat the strep, but you can't do anything for mono but rest, etc. I have to go back in 3 weeks for bloodwork again.

I am back and going strong. I took one week off when my lethargy was at its worst. Other than that, I pushed myself as hard as I could. Been feeling great for a couple months now.

I think you should go as hard as your body allows. Swallow your pride, and go hard when you can, take it easy when you must, and do nothing when your body requires it. You'll maintain, or at least prevent much regression, and you will still get the mental bump from still working out.
