  • Thinking about letting the trainer go

I originally hired this guy because I was lost and would get frustrated. Now I feel like he is more of a hindrance sometimes... I've learned that I really need a workout partner, but someones always got his ear when we're working together. Sometimes it can be a huge distraction.

That's unacceptable in my opinion. You are paying him to pay attention to you, not whoever needs him.

Exactly, you are paying the guy. Tell him your not paying him to socialize.

I do, but people just walk up to him and talk to him. Its really a difficult situation because I understand what is going on, but its just so friggin' distracting. Besides I'm starting to think of him as a friend which makes it hard for me to demand concentration, etc.

Not acceptable still - I'd let him go and I'd tell him why. You don't pay for friends (well I don't :P)

What's the main problem? Why don't you just let him go? You know enough now to get by, right?

Yeah you have to talk to him about that, as a professional trainer he should know that when a client walks in his socializing hour is over and he should tell that to people who wants talk to him if people come up to me while I am training my client they get ten seconds of my time if they are lucky. So like I said you should talk to him and if he doesn't change let him go. Also there is nothing wrong with being friends with your trainer as long as he is still giving you what you are paying for. I hang out with all of my clients as friends but when we walk in to the gym friendship ends.
By the way 90% of my clients been with me for about 10 years so I can't help becoming friends with them in fact we are like family now. :)

All the globo-gym trainers are like that. Its bullshit. I had a similar post about when my ex had problems with her trainer. Definately get out of the deal ASAP. He is probably on job number 8 for the year right now anyway.
