Allow me, a Canadian, to shed some light on this.

You DO NOT want our system...you get taxed to the bone for a system that sees you waiting four hours on a visit to the emergency room on non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, waiting SIX TO NINE MONTHS for CAT scans and MRIs for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, and you're placed at the mercy of your half-wit family doctor as to whether or not they will refer you to a specialist (without that referral, you don't get to see one). Not only that, but you would not believe how far behind we are in the approval process for new drugs and treatments...because if the government is the one doing the buying, you can bet they are trying to avoid anything expensive so that they can spend more tax dollars on things other than healthcare.

You're better off working hard and getting a job that provides coverage or buying your own insurance, trust me on that.

And for the record- usually when you access a site where illegal drugs are discussed on a regular basis, it's usually not going to draw a conservative crowd, lol.
the free market has not been represented in the 1900's or 2000's so to give it a bad name based on "republicans" is not fair. and a country is not created to keep people "healthy" or "care for them" its established to protect individual rights. charities and organizations are what should keep the poor and indigent "healthy". no one has a right to make a doctor a slave that MUST work for the govt keeping people healthy. and that what socialized medicine is....no wonder countries who have socialezed medicine have patients who come to WHERE to get treated by the best AMERICA. we are the last bastion of freedom even though it is not present in any visible form at present. we have the means to get it back at least though I don't see it happening as slowly BOTH parties are raping the system to get what they want by promising people money and handouts.

Well listen, first off- the among just about every other comment in that article, the healthcare thing was the least inflammatory item I could post about without blowing my lid. I totally agree we have a very flawed and completely corrupt system. Both parties ARE not only raping the system, but raping the drug companies. If you haven't already, you really need to rent "Bigger, Faster, Stronger". Really shed a lot of light on things related to AAS, drugs in general, and the politicians involved.

That being said- I don't think this country will ever fully convert to a totally socialized system. HOWEVER, what needs to happen is some sort of government subsidy or something. I just changed jobs- and do you wanna know what MY portion for one month of COBRA is? $500!!! For ONE MONTH!!! If I have the baby before my new benefits start, God knows how much that will be. That's why there needs to be some sort of government healthcare program. And, Obama I don't think is proposing 100% socialization of it.

LMAO, so because YOU changed jobs the government via our tax dollars should be responsible in some way for your health care?

no one ever proposes socialization....its just happens from the complacency of a countries people and the distractions a govt throws at them.

                  [QUOTE=redsquirrel;461720][QUOTE=Kayak Jones;461709]OUTSTANDING.

You can give everyone healthcare if you
can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is
a luxury and not a right.

While the entire thing is completely inflammatory on so many different levels, this comment is particularly amusing. Why don't you do so me research on Canada, France, Cuba and other countries with socialized healthcare? You'll see how retarded just that comment sounds- let alone the other 90% of that article.

Now hear this- the first American who thinks healthcare is a luxury....why wouldn't a country want to care for its own citizens?

I am disgusted on so many other levels in regards to every other thing in this article; or whatever this is- it doesn't even warrant a response.

Does this mean you won't take Rosie and Oprah?

I would have never imagine a group of steroid users and bodybuilders would be such bleeding heart liberals.

its so laughable to think the government owes people healthcare. Next it will be homes and toilet paper owed to us. why work hard? I guess not everyone like to reward themselves with hard work these days, they just want the government to be their new mommy and daddy

LMAO you say??? Well how about the 5 million Americans who are collecting unemployment right now??? WTF do you have to say to them? They were hard working tax payers, and their companies didn't plan for the future, and got too fucking greedy, WTF do you tell them about their health insurance?????

I'm on pins and needles waiting for your answer on this one- I'd LOVE to tell my husband- who has been laid off for 4 fucking months- why the government shouldn't help him with his COBRA premium; which is $250 a month.

I merely put my own COBRA payment in there to show you how expensive it really is. So, for those households that may have two wage earners without jobs, you're talking $750 for just TWO PEOPLE. God forbid if they have kids. Well guess what happens- these people forego having healthcare because guess what again- they can't AFFORD $1500/month when one or both wage earners aren't working. So, they get sick, or they get in a car wreck and they go to the hospital, but can't pay. Well, smart guy- guess who pays??? Yep- you and me- the people who HAVE insurance, and the people who PAY their premiums. We get charged $40 for freaking Band Aids to pay for the person before us who couldn't pay a dime, and astronomical amounts for regular services.

So you pick your poison here- you can skin a cat 8 different ways. Either way- YOU END UP PAYING FOR IT ANYWAY.

I think Red summarizes it very well.

The thing to keep in mind is that prevention is far cheaper than cure. The problem with not having a health insurance safety net is that people simply don't go to the doctor because they can't afford to. This means that small problems intensify and finally when they end up in ER, it costs 10X what it would have had they been able to address the small problems when they occurred.

I understand that the challenge is to not have a system geared toward freeloaders, but not having any insurance safety net is really doing a great disservice to a large and deserving part of the nation's population.
