I think we pretty much know what you mean...It's ok to joke on the board just need to know where to draw the line...We all tend to joke with one another and some of us don't like each other, which I'm fine with that;)

But I know my racism could be toned down just a bit, tee wad, little, etc...;)
It's not about you poking fun at other members. It's the broad brush that you paint on groups of people and people you don't personally know. Bigotry is indecorous, unwelcoming and archaic.

The problems lies when people make racist comments about people in the public eye, or a group in general, etc. If you say The Grinder is a hillbiller, it's one thing - we know HE knows we're kidding. When someone says "Sapp is a nigger" well....that's no longer a personal joke and it makes the board look in poor taste. A lot of us have been around each other for years, we know what we can/can not get away with amongst each other. However, we do not know what "color" our guests are, or people that don't post very often, and I'd hate to think we would offend or run someone off because of something said in poor taste.

So in short, yes you can still make fun of rado, because he doesn't care - but no, you can't make fun of mexicans, because that's grouping them all together. :)

And no, you definitely can't say anything about me. :D

Kudos to you for doing what's right.

This is a place to learn and benefit from other members' experiences in bodybuilding...and honestly, as your business, if the offside stuff is driving away members or potential members, it is taking money out of your pocket.

Maybe if you posted picture of your bodacious boobies in this thread it would make everyone more positive and happy and less likely to be racist. :D

We encounter the problem of racist behavior at the board I mod for. It is a hard situation because so many people believe you should be able to say whatever you want and bare the consequences yourself. To add to the problem our membership was heavily white, young and spoiled (wealthy parents).

The solution to the problem was diligence. People generally get tired of having posting privileges revokes, etc. So, its just being consistent enough in your moderation of what is presented in the forum. Then there are people who just don't go away and constantly start shit. You kind of have to deal with it because they will always find a way back. You can make threads like this all you want, but they generally fade away into the archives unless you act upon them. There were a few people who were actually reported to authorities for harassing female members so heavily online. Of course, this resulted in absolutely no action because there aren't really online harassment laws that mean anything.

It will go away. We aren't 16, we know how to act like grown-ups for the most part - won't be a major ordeal.
