  • Gas Grills????

i have never used a gas grill to cook. Always been a charcoal man. But I got my "no interest for a year" thing from Lowes and I think I am gonna break down and get one. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as brand names and maybe what to look for or what not to look for as far as accessories? I am probably looking at a middle of the road 300-400 dollar range type.

My parents used to have one. Piece of junk man, our kabobs kept coming out dry and nasty.

Stick to charcoal, keeps your meat tender and juicy.

Plus those propane tanks are a bitch to store, and you have to make sure they don't leak. Too much hassle, and they're expensive. Cleaning is a pain too.

vermont castings makes a great grill bro -- might be a little above the price range but not much --

when cooking -- let it warm up completely - cook meats on low -- meat taste great and will not dry out if you know what your doing !!!! slow and low bro

            False! :D

Charcoal will give you the best flavor, it's just more labor intensive than gas.

How many grilling/barbecuing competitions do you see with gas grills?

I would say one thing not to worry about unless you are going to be doing a lot of cooking and serving outside is spend money on side burners. My parents and friends have had them and I could probably count on one hand how many times I have seen anyone use a side burner.

Mine cost me like $99( it was the cheapest they had) and it works great I use it almost everyday. If you gonna do big family BBQ get the bigger one but if it's just you and your family almost anyone would do :)

Charcoal is so much better than gas. My dad is BIG into bbq'ing (forums, the whole nine) - none of them use gas.

Look into the weber performer. Best grill I have ever seen. Uses propane to light the charcoal then you turn it off.you can even set it up like a smoker and slow cook. Best grill for the money

thanks guys...I am really going back and forth on this lol...Since I am recently divorced, its pretty much just me that I am cooking for around the house but I do cook larger portions at a time and freeze them for convenience. and I agree with the side burner thing. most of the consumer reports said they take to long to boil water and are to hot to simmer things. so basically I am looking for a nice surface area and a dependable name. I have about 2 weeks to decide :) but I am already missing my grilling with the weather being nice out.

Just for a quick convince thing for my food each week I want a gas grill. I want to get one some time. I will always have a charcoal grill though for the days I want to grill some steaks or whatever.
