I was thinking about getting one of these. I don't have a lot of grass, so I was thinking this would be easy and compact.

OMG, we had one of those forever ago when I was a kid for a house we had at the Jersey shore. It was just about the only exercise I got outside of my sailing lessons. A well oiled one isn't that bad if you keep up with the lawn. When you get to the deep grass Though, you're like "Mother of God, what was a thinking?!" as you get a running start to cut your grass.
You can get push mowers that are compact for about the same price nowadays.

I was watching these videos YouTube - Reel Classic Trailing Wheel 16" Push Mower and they don't seem difficult. They of course are selling them, so they are biased.
I don't have a shed or garage, so the only place for me to store it is under the porch and I didn't want to store anything with gas under the house. I also am not mechanically inclined at all. I figure mowers are not that difficult, but I still don't want the hassle. I am only renting, so this is also a temporary thing for the next couple years. When we buy a house I would get a nice lawn mower.

I don't mind them as long as your lawn isn't very big. You need to mow your lawn a bit more often to keep it manageable and make sure and keep it sharp. I find that I have to go over a spot a few times to get every blade even.
Great exercise, low maintenence, and environmentally friendly, not to mention quiet.
