Well there is a newer sect of old earth creationists. So they can't even get their shit together on that. The old earth creationists understand and agree with the theory of evolution. They feel that god still started everything, but he designed evolution. There is still the fact that there haven't been human remains (as in what we currently consider to be homeo remains) found with dinosaur remains. As for the earth only being about 6000 years old, the only way they have to date that is the bible. Those still are very rough estimates and there are fitting the evidence to the story instead of letting the evidence tell the story. It still begs the question of something providing evidence to the scripture other than scripture. I'm sure somebody reading this will immediately think "prophecy"... but I won't get into that rubbish now.
