Okay, I'm not one to complain...:), but I feel like facebook is taking over the world. It was weird when my 40 year old cousins started joining, but eh. It turned bad when my mom joined. Now, I'm getting invites to family events on facebook. That is a no go.

I don't have one and I plan to never get one.

I love the FB stalkers, I use to know guys and girls that would get on there and spend hours looking through people's crap, especially people that the said they didn't like. Seems weird to me that they were consumed with learning about the lives of people the said they hated.

I joined just this past weekend...Mostly so my friends & family could view updated pics of the new baby. BUT- I did experience something similar to Chris'...

I don't get along with my mother in law...She made it pretty public she didn't want her son to marry me. That's the short of it... LOL. But, as soon as I had this baby she became my BFF all of a sudden.

Anyway- I caught a cold over the weekend, & posted something about how I was sick. She immediately called my husband to see if the baby was sick, then she posts like 3 more messages TO MY DAUGHTER from her "Grannie"-(BARF) about how she bought a new glider swing for the front porch, and like 2 other posts. I'm sorry- I'm just not fake like that. So, now I'm totally rethinking the whole facebook thing.

Can you block someone without them knowing it

LOL, nope. You should never have accepted the friend invite. My point isn't that the site is bad, it's that what happened to you is stupid. If your mother-in-law is a bitch (sorry to your husband-no offense intended), you shouldn't have to be friends with her. Facebook forces that on you. Maybe good, maybe bad, I just don't like that.

My mother got upset when I told her I wasn't going to be fee facebook friend. I told her facebook was for me to keep up with my friends from college and high school, who I do t see anymore. I have a grand total of 20 friends without the family members I have. They are people I talk to regularly via facebook, instead of calling/texting. While I was at state, I had roughly 300 'friends' and I never even used facebook.

I'm just saying, it's ridiculous how stuff happens because of it. Anything I post get channeled to my cousin (soon to be removed as friends) to my aunts to my mom. That's a no go in my book.

all i do is disable the button that allows people to add me. all they can do is send me a message, which i deny getting if i see the person face-to-face.

I have a facebook and that is one thing I dont like about it. Everything that someone writes to you gets posted for everyone to see. Its not that big of a deal because is just small talk and nothing very personal but it is a little annoying.

I do not use any of that stuff, but I hear it works good for hooking up with girls, but on the downside pictures are proof an I have had some friends have to make some serious excuses to gf why there are pics of them kissing other girls.
