My new toy!

After a great snowboarding winter I am back in to mountain biking, well...actually I've been biking religiously almost everyday since april 1st. Well about two weeks ago somebody broke in to my storage room in my garage and stole my bikes :pissed:(I had a Giant trance 3 and a Specialized rockhopper) So as soon as I got my insurance check I went and bought this puppy this thing is gorgeous and I can't wait to take it for a spin.:hibb:

Let me ask you something since you seem to be into this. I got a Mongoose mountain bike about a year ago. After trying to ride it a few times I returned it. The gears wouldn't stay locked in and the chain kept jumping off track and even falling off. Is it the quality of the bike that caused these problems or was it something I was doing?

Nope it wasn't you it was the bike. Mangoose, Huffy, Schwinn, Magna are the a few brands that you should stay away. Never ever buy a bike from big chain stores like Wal Mart or Target or any other place like that. If you wanna get a beginner bike find a local bike shop and talk to them you can spend around $350 and get a very good bike that will last for a long long time.

Mongoose made good bmx bikes about 10-13 years ago. I knew when I saw them in Wal-Mart that they had made a deal with the devil.

You guys are funny, I got to admit tho for the amount of money this thing cost me I could've bought a three or four year old street bike. :)

I had the same thing happen with a Mongoose I bought. Was it a yellow one? Then the peddel broke right off. I paid like $300 I think it was a couple years ago.

Specialized, Trek, Canondale, Santa Cruz, Marin, GT. There are bunch more but these are the ones that gets carried most commonly by a local bike shop

No and mine only cost about $150, but I think it was on sale and normally about $200.

They have a Trek store right by my house. I looked in there to find some lights for a bike and quickly realized that it's not a cheap hobby lol.
