My parents watch my kids for me while we are at work. So, the other day I go to pick them up and my liitle boy (4 years old) has red cheeks and just looks run down and hot. So I look at their thermostat and it was 85 degrees in the house. It was 87 outside that day. So I got pissed that they would have it so hot in there and my kids are sitting in there like its a sauna. So I say, how I dont want the kids there if they arent going to keep the house comfortable. I did get a little rude and said it in a "slightly" disrepsectful manner. But when its your kids you dont care about hurting peoples feelings. But the problem is they are just cheap and dont want to run the Central Air. So today I go over there and its 81 degrees in there. So, I said something again, this time I stayed a little more calm. They agreed to keep the house more cool. Im just wondering if Im crazy or what? They made me feel like a asshole for complaining. I keep my house about 75 degrees.

Its like 80-84 in my room because our AC sucks in my moms house. She keeps it at 76, but barely turns it on.
For one, your parents are probably cold, my grandmother wears a sweater and its been like 85-90 out all summer here. Also, they're of the depression era, different mind set to these nicities we have.

What about Transformers posters??:rofl:Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postdo you have car posters in your room?
We usually keep the house around 74 during the day, and 71 at night. But, with the recent hot streak we just had, it was around 75...and my AC bill was still almost $200. We do, however, close of a majority of the vents on the main level, and all in the lower level so the rooms we use most frequently stay a little bit cooler. Maybe suggest that to your parents so the rooms your kids are in the most are a little cooler, even though the thermostat says 80+.
And, I would DIE if it was any warmer than 76...

My Ac is set at 73. but I dont turn it on much. I have a new house with all kinds of energy saving bullshit. The best money I ever spent was on a "whole house fan" at night when it is cooler outside I open a few windos and turn that thing on and leave it on all night. keeps my house very cool and gets all the heat outta the attic.
last week it was 109 out side and I only had the AC on latter in the day it takes that long for the house to heat up.

It stays at 72 in our house.
My wife's parents never turn their fuckin' AC on even in the middle of summer. Fucking kills me when we go to their house. It can be 100 out and they'll be sittin' in the house with the windows open like it's no big deal. Now my wife calls ahead and asks them if the AC is on before we come over.

Yeah whole house fans are nice I have one, try this if you have windows in your cellar and it does not have a musty smell, open only the windows in your cellar and turn on the house fan it pulls the hot outside air into the cellar and pulls the cold air from the cellar into the rest of the house. I do that first, then put on the A/C so it does not have to work to get the house cold, it just maintains temp.Originally posted by ROCKETW19 View PostMy Ac is set at 73. but I dont turn it on much.
