Brits have now lost more men in Afgan than in Iraq, the army are trying to win the hearts and minds of Afgan people against the Taliban and try help establish a state strong enough to hold its own.
People over here are begining to think our government don't really care and are only doing it to stay in with the US, following a request from our military in Afgan, its taken a year to move 8 of our helecopters from Iraq to Afgan, people doubt the governments committment to our soldiers, other equipment is notably lacking.
Gengis Khan tried and failed to over throw Afganistan, Russia failed, albeit we're only trying to defeat Taliban, and of course Alqueda its looking like it will be a long draw out affair that is very much like Vietnam.
Personally I think that without question something needed to be done after 9/11 and later 7/7, bombing possibly even atomic on known terrorist locations, do something terrible back ride the storm of backlash and then its done, I think we should keep on but just wish the government would commit more and the army get a clearer objective.
