Those are council houses, functional breeze block and render outside to give a shitty pebble dash effect.

typical council house build, there's big estates of them usually one or two per town, they were built as social housing but we're generally not at built up as NY and NJ so they don't have to build high rise, what you call 'the projects' we call council estates' although we do also have high rise council blocks i some built up places, Peckham South london in particular.

Most were built in 1930/40's for those that couldn't afford to buy or pay market rent, part of our welfare system. Problem is some people are just dumb and lazy and work the system, shit a kidder out at an early age, say their single and no father around and the state gives them a free house, and child benefits, their kids grow up and do the same blah blah

In 1980's Thatcher started to sell them off to the occupier at discounted rates, worked well for a while people took more pride in what they owned, but thats stopped now because the new generation of kiddie shitters have nowhere to go so we're building more council accommodation, mostly foreigners and illegal immigrants are filling them though.
