  • Anybody buy a house in the last year?

Going to be moving into a house in the next year or so. Need a back yard for my pups.

Range somewhere between $325,000 and $350,000 and in north jersey that's not all that much. You can find something nice just not very big. Hell, anything is bigger then a fucken apartment.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any tips whatever they may be.

real estate here is crap in MD. unless you're moving into redneck territory, anything with a decent sized house and a decent sized backyard in a decent neighborhood still costs a fortune. but for you, everything is okay when it's small. so i'm sure you'll have no issues. :P

Try to get foreclosed, it is more work dealing with the banks an shit, but my friend just bought a house that is 1,700 square feet (not counting cellar, garage) on 1 acre for 150,000. A house like that around were I live is usually in the 250,000 range.

Bouncer you should look for a house in Englishtown, all those relatively new houses they built are beautiful, it also seemed like a nice area.

The only advice I can give is put in low offers. And as Konitz said bid on short sales or bank owned. If you go that route be prepared to play a long waiting game and sometimes not even getting the property.

My house I bought was $875K 3years ago when they first started building. End of last year they wanted 575K I put in a bid for 500K they came back at 515K and I took it. So dont be scared drop a low number they will counter.

i just bought, but it's a different market up here I think. Take your time, and figure out where you're willing and unwilling to compromise one. Also, in the long run, 10k-20k isn't a lot of money if it's going to save you second guessing yourself.

Get a home inspection before you buy.
