        I was born in 78.

Generation X is a term used to describe a group of people born from 1964 to the mid or late 1970s in the United States and Canada. This generation follows the powerful Baby Boomer generation which spiked after World War II. Although the term Generation X is used to describe people born in this time period, it has also been used to describe anyone who is “twentysomething” at the time. The biggest impact that Generation X has had on popular culture probably began in the 1980s and peaked in the 1990s.

They played it every afteroon on school days here. Must of flopped over there so they sent it to us.

Roger Ramjet is an animated children's television comedy series created in the United States that first ran in 1965 and has aired in syndication since. Starring Roger Ramjet and the American Eagle Squadron, the show was known for its crude animation, frenetic pace, and frequent references to popular culture, which allowed the show to entertain various age groups.

Roger Ramjet is a patriotic and highly moral but not too bright superhero (kind of a jet age Dudley Do-Right), who is typically out to save the world, with help from his Proton Energy Pills ("PEP"), which give him "the strength of twenty atom bombs for a period of twenty seconds".

                Generation Y disappoints employers

A survey of more than 300 Australian business owners has summed up Generation Y as demanding, impatient and bad at communicating.

The poll by Smart Company and Roy Morgan Research, along with Dunn and Bradstreet, examines the attitudes of 315 owners of small and medium-sized businesses across Australia to Generation Y.

Smart Company publisher Amanda Gome say the generation, which spans those born between 1977 and 1992, comes in for a great deal of criticism from employers.

“We found that almost 70 per cent of them reported dissatisfaction with the Gen Y employees’ performance, particularly in spelling, grammar [and] that they didn’t understand what constitutes appropriate corporate behaviour,” she said.

“They also said that the communication skills of the Gen Y staff were disappointing and 37 per cent complained that they actually lacked professional skills, the acceptable technical skills they needed to do their job.”

Ms Gome says employers sometimes feel they are babysitting their Generation Y employees and that Australia’s skills shortage leaves them with little choice but to employ them.

“The feeling was it’s the baby boomer parents, that these kids have grown up at home - they’re babied,” she said.

Some of the employers called them Gen Y brats - they don’t do the dishes in the work place, they’re being pampered.”

But Ms Gome says employers are not completely dissatisfied.

“They bring an energy, a creativity and a charisma, so if you can harness their personalities and their view of the world in the right way, they can be good employees,” she said.

Unsurprisingly, the survey has itself come in for criticism. Emma Brown is a 28-year-old businesswoman who says the complaints about her generation are unfair.

“I don’t think its founded, every generation is very critical of the one that follows,” she said.

“From my experience, Generation Y shouldn’t have the amount of criticism that we’re currently copping at the moment.

“It’s way too harsh to label us as less educated and more demanding.

“We certainly are more demanding in some areas but I think this comes back to this real misunderstanding of Gen Y, and it’s just highlighting that the old management styles won’t work with people our age.

“People just aren’t moving with the times and they can’t understand why they’re getting the best from Gen Y, and its just simply because they’re not understood.”

So generation X is to blame for all the horrible clothes and bad music in the 80's. :)
