  • Trouble opening email attachments

Some email attachments will only open through windows media centre. When i click on the attachment it automatically opens media centre and i have no idea how to find the file in that program. How can i change it so it wont automatically open with media centre. Im running vista.

What email app are you using? Most of the time a dialog box will pop up so you can save it to file or open it. You can even try right clicking on the attachment link and there should be an option to save as and that will allow you to save it to the desktop or wherever then you can open it in anything.

First off switch to firefox. IE sucks Rado's left nut. There should be somewhere in the options where you can choose for it to open when downloading or saving it to file. I don't have my PC on otherwise i'd give you exactly where.

run linux, def don't use IE and or hotmail for anything that means a damn to you honestly. Hotmail is the easiest and most exploitable e-mail system imo. As regards to your attachments ... it's the vista setup - everything will either be saved as file or opened depending how you set up the apps, every OS does this but vista is easily the dumbest piece of shit made.

Sorry, that post didn't really give you specifics just a rant about microsoft bro.. I haven't seen a windows screen in awhile but you might want to check the filters on your browser .. all browsers use a "security feature" that can sometimes screw up the most simple download.. find them in preferences and disable them-try the download again.. if it's still not working I will ask my friend and get back to you asap.

google chrome is the best browser imo. You should check it out since you are already trying the firefox.

vista sp2 is as stable if not more then anything out there.

                            this is fact.

vista and vista sp2 are completely different.

True, didn't take that into account.. I gave vista about 5 seconds before I puked, sorry to jump the gun.. btw redback I am looking into some issues regarding the prob you mentioned. Do you have any rundll problems when you first boot your computer ? When was the last time you defragged ? Have you run a "restore" in the last 1-2 months?
