Rado I really think your comments are off base here.... what experience do you have with mental problems or brain unbalances that makes you able to form a decent opinion on this sort of thing??
And for fucks sakes.... are you seriously telling someone not to use meds for something that he needs them for, based on your opinion that you shouldn't use meds unless absolutely necessary (which brain unbalances can be necessity in my eyes anyway) when you fill your body with steroids which last time I checked is not suppose to be available without prescription in order to obtain the body you want.... let me reiterrate that..... you use them not to correct something that isn't right in your body by nature but just to obtain the type of body you wish to have based on what society thinks is attractive.... And then you sit there on your little perch and judge someone for using a prescribed drug after trying other methods of treatment to control their problem??? Damn it your unreal sometimes bro.... Give your damn head a shake and get out of your holier then tho world and take a look around!
And for the record I have some experience with mental problems of different sorts in my family and I myself have been forced to use prozac to control a really bad case of depression at one point in my life....
SHIBBY; I understand what its like to feel like you don't have full control of your own mind.... And do what you need to do whether that be take meds or not! May I also suggest reading some Anthony Robbins books because they are great books for getting control of your own mind and keeping a good grip on life and reality..... Good luck bro!

What I was trying to tell this fucking atheist is that certain things you can control, and some you can't...I was merely telling this tool that possibly his inability to focus could be more than just his "ADD"...He could be having issues at home, his kids, personal, steroids, etc...Making his mind occupied with other areas and not concentrating on his new position/job...But whatever, let him pop pills; I could give a fuck...Really:)Last edited by Shibby; 09-10-10, 09:49 PM.

You make it sound like I just self diagnosed myself one weekend went to the store and bought some adderall.Originally posted by radoAgreed...With all the issues I worry about, it really messes me up...Having to worry about so many different things that at times, I don't worry about myself; yes I agree.

My mom was put on it about a year ago to help her focus. She thought she's had it her whole life too.Originally posted by Shibby View PostI have spent the last couple months in a kind of focus counseling and now my doctor prescribed. The diagnosis is adult ADD, but I have probably had it my whole life. I had learned to adapt to it for the most part, but since getting promoted to a much more professional job it was effecting me more than ever. My job is very detailed oriented and a lot of repetitive tasks. The main point behind the thread though is I'm getting this out there in the open (where appropriate) so that there is no loss of control with it. I take it in the mornings M-F.
That being said, it made her MORE scatterbrained. My sister & I both told her she needed to cut the dose in half. Her DR finally did, and it's helped a TON.
So, if your wife starts to notice, or says something, make sure to tell your doctor. I think ADD meds are way overprescribed these days anyway. And many times doctors prescribe more than is needed. :)

Yea I told my wife to pay attention and let me know. An outside perspective is always good. So far though she said she has noticed positive changes in me at home. Espeacially my patience.Originally posted by redsquirrel View PostMy mom was put on it about a year ago to help her focus. She thought she's had it her whole life too.

What made you choose Adderall over Straterra or any of the other newer ADD drugs? Just interested in learning how you came to choose that one.
I am an ADHD sufferer myself, most of the time I can use behavior modification to control it... but sometimes I go on the drugs to help.

I personally take Addy because I take them only when I study. I don't want to take a pill everyday, and with Adderall you don't really have to keep the levels in your body constant, like you do with Straterra or Concerta.Originally posted by Nekrawulf View PostWhat made you choose Adderall over Straterra or any of the other newer ADD drugs? I basically use my Addy in a non-recommended manner, but it works for me. You can take my college transcript and visually see the difference in before Addy and after Addy. I couldn't understand why I was doing poorly in classes, yet I knew I had the mental capacity to learn the material.

My doctor is a DO and MRO. This is what he wanted to start me on since I'm and just taking one pill (20mg) in the morning M-F to see how it works with me. I will be seeing him again in a couple weeks and we will talk more then.Originally posted by Nekrawulf View PostWhat made you choose Adderall over Straterra or any of the other newer ADD drugs? *Seeing him in a couple weeks because I'm getting an MRI on my wrist. I will probably need surgery to repair some ligament damage*

So today is my first day off. I feel like any day before starting the adderall. No cravings or withdraw feelings. Magdalena compares it to having a nice rental during the week and getting her old model back on the weekends :) Mostly in relation to my patients (during the week there were few other small improvements at home too). My patients is the same as before starting adderall but at that time we didn't know any difference.

Very glad that you can make the weekend break bro, patience and attention are two seperate things and I think that anyone on amphetamines will notice both will be improved but the pro-longed use without the breaks will end up frying the CNS more and leaving you with less of that attention you are after. Glad to hear it's work out well bro.

We will see of my doctor thinks its worth working on or maybe a more appropriate drug or whatever. The work issue comes first right now. But if my weeks and weekends make me bipolar :) not of it may be worth it.Originally posted by the art of war View PostVery glad that you can make the weekend break bro, patience and attention are two seperate things and I think that anyone on amphetamines will notice both will be improved but the pro-longed use without the breaks will end up frying the CNS more and leaving you with less of that attention you are after.
