Dave Lombardo - best drummer, period.

His work on Slayer is consistently quoted by other drummers as the gold standard for modern heavy metal drumming. It is not for nothing that he is called the "godfather of the double bass."

Lars Ulrich is certainly a good drummer but one of the more over rated drummers. Dave Grohl is a talent, Dave Lombardo is on a complete other level. However, Danny Carey from tool trumps them all. Carter Beauford from the Dave Matthews Band is also one of the most technically precise drummers out there. If you compare most modern drummers to these guys they look like beginners, imo.

Those are two others I was going to name. Just the way most of their rhythms and sequences are never repeated.

I don't think Carter gets recognized as a "bad ass" drummer the way others might because he is in DMB, but in terms of technicallity I would consider him a drumming scientist, lol. His sound is so crisp, clean, and precise. There is a lot to be said of jazz style drummers and improvisation. Going fast and loud does not make you a legend. I think a good way to look at it is: could a skilled drummer listen to some of the aforementioned drummers music a few times and then sit at a kit and play it?

Not likely with Carey, Lombardo, Peart, Portnoy, Beauford, Stewart Copeland, Mike Cameron.....these people are in a completely different class of talent.

There are very few things that I'm as passionate about as I am with music.

Haven't heard too much of Danny Carey but Carter Beauford is great! Also, Lombardo is recognized for his metal work, but when he was on hiatus from Slayer, he worked as a session musician with a pretty eclectic bunch of musicians in several different musical genres. If I remember right, he was born in Cuba and is a big fan of Cuban, Caribbean and Latin American music and rhythms.

All the really great musicians have talents and abilities that transcend genres, I think.

Don't get upset because the entertainers you enjoy lack the musical ability to create their own compositions therefore they 'borrow' the music from talented musicians and with the assistance of software such as pro tools create their dribble that mindless retards like you call 'music.'

...or something to that effect. :hibb:
