  • Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) Injury

So this is what's wrong with my wrist. I go to see a hand specialist on the 9th, to see where to go from here. My primary said I most likely will need surgery especially if I want to continue lifting

There was also a bit on the MRI about a degenerative joint damage and a ganglion cyst near my thumb.

The cyst I wouldn't even have know about without the MRI being done. It's not in the same area as the pain. They may do something about it if they are going to be going into my hand anyways.

Thanks, it will be fine. It's not as much like and ACL or joint tear, so the repair should bring it back to a high grade. The question is where surgery is need or just some long immobilization. The reason my primary said surgery is because the immobilization would heal the pain, but the cartilage wouldn't completely rebuild and be to thin for continued lifting. The surgery would basically tear it all down so that it can rebuild full (or close to) size.

Both of them do. The reason I got this one checked out is if it bends a little to much one way or the other, I can get a pain and it can ache for a day or so. When I first started feeling it about 5 years ago, it was infrequent and my wrist range of motion was greater without it hurting. It slowly became more frequent, the pain was worse and lasted longer. I would have got it fixed a little sooner, but my insurance sucked, so I kept putting it off. I have much better insurance now.

Sounds a bit different, but I'm sure it can present in many ways. I never have any noticeable swelling.

Ive had two surgeries r/l for tfcc and some other things. sucks, and it never gets better. the best they can do is repair cartilage and clean the joint out.

Hope everything works out for you. Sugery sucks and when it threatens lifting it makes it even more nervous. One thing I learned was that the doctor's tend to exaggerate. When I shattered my heel the doc told me your life is changed forever, you will not be able to do things you used to blah, blah, blah. The only thing I cannot do now that I used to is run/jog for long distances and that gets better everyday. Stay positive and it will all work out.
