So, I think I'm going to get a personal trainning cert. I looked around and like the NASM cert due to it's nature, resonable pricing, and the timeframe in which you can get it. Think it looks like a great start. Hopeully I can work with it and get some clients whilst I go back to school.

considering he said he would do it while he goes to school i dont think he is looking long term you stupid shit.Originally posted by blm View PostGood luck with that. In my opinion, if you are doing it out of passion for fitness and helping people, go for it. If you are doing it with the dreams of being successful and making great money...forget it.

I would do it for a while. I mentioned school because I thought pt might be better than working a shit job while in school. I meant I would the the NASM caert for pt while I was in school and get more certs later.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postconsidering he said he would do it while he goes to school i dont think he is looking long term you stupid shit.

In my area (cali) most places wont hire you unless you have NASM. So I think that is a great first cert and that is the first one I got. Before you waist your time with it go in and ask around at different gyms on what and how they pay. also ask if you can train with your own style or if you have to folow their guidlines.
Last thing I know this means nothing but to your customer if you dont look the part you will not get clients. I dont care if you have every cert they make and are the smartest person around you have to look the part.

So true. My old gym had the worst looking trainers - never understood that.

I always thought that as well, but a bunch of the trainers at places I work look like crap. At the Y, the one dude has got to be 250+ of pure belly fat. It sticks over his pants. I do have pictures in the picture section...Originally posted by ROCKETW19 View PostLast thing I know this means nothing but to your customer if you dont look the part you will not get clients. My friend is a personal trainer, never even got a certification, don't ask me how that works, he makes like 55K a year, not bad out of college, hours are horrible he works like 8-12 then 4-8 everyday but tuesdays and sundays. He does not like it cuz he works so much he cannot eat right or get his training in. It's not like he can sit around and eat food, he has to be training people. Just wanted to give you a example.
P.S. Chris I just donated $100 to the NRA to help fight the international ban of firearms. lol

I thought about that, but I'd be able to get training in on that kinda schedule. Eating is worrisome. Figure I can drop in a quick meal between sessions. I pre-cook anyway...Originally posted by Konitz View PostMy friend is a personal trainer, never even got a certification, don't ask me how that works, he makes like 55K a year, not bad out of college, hours are horrible he works like 8-12 then 4-8 everyday but tuesdays and sundays.
