In Greek mythology, Priapos (Ancient Greek: Πρίαπος) Latinized as Priapus was a minor rustic fertility god, protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens and male genitalia. He was best noted for his huge, permanently erect penis, which gave rise to the medical term priapism.
