I can tell you are clueless and things bother you just because. If they bother you and you can't explain why, then it's not your feelings it's the feelings someone else put in you. You also completely miss the point about what bothered me. It's not the words that bothers me it making a joke of someone simply because you feel they are beneath you. I would do something about someone telling my son something that would make him upset. Not because of the words, because he is my kid (who doesn't know any better and sounds like the mentality of most in this thread) and I will protect his physical well being as well as his emotional well being.

Wrong, I use to fight over words when I was younger. I grew out of it. So I know from experience. Just because a word means something emotional to someone else doesn't mean I have to share those feelings. This is all about the honor. You feel these words ,that someone else insignificant says, hurts your honor? Why? How did they suddenly get so much mental power over you? Fighting over this "honor" is your way of trying to gain it back. How you feel dishonered and your attempt to regain it is just validating they have power over you.

This is a bad analogy and I believe where you are missing the point. You are talking about two different things as if they are one or inseparable. It's sometimes called "moving the goal posts". If there is an actual threat to my family of course I will defend them. But fighting because I want to teach someone they can't talk to me like that, is just giving the words credibility and has only shown that words are harder than sticks and stones.

Well this would be good advice if everyone in the world was like you and I, but I'm pretty sure if he punched this guy in the face, he would lose his job, get charged with assault and battery,and maybe get slapped with some sort of law suit and/or have to pay all his medical bills.

When I had problems with people to the point of fighting I would say stop talking or punch me. I always say that actions speak louder than words.

Okay, you're gonna get pissy at this...just so you know in advance.

I honestly, do not understand this mentality at all. Winning the physical fight, doesn't make you right. All it does is shut one party up. I can think of a few examples/questions I have off the top of my head to illustrate this.

Bouncer like to talk shit on my sister...and I think its complete bs. Its annoying and in reality, really disrespectful. If we were to fight, and assuming what he leads members of the board to believe is true (about his size/strength) I would get my ass kicked. So, its not like it makes him right to do what he does. It doesn't solve the situation or stop the annoyance, it just 'embarrasses' the losers (my) 'man hood'. I guess that is what I really don't understand.

I think you like the idea of fighting because you feel you'll kick the other dudes ass, and that makes you the 'winner'. All in does though, is show your superior ability to fight.

In your case '3' (I can never remember the full name), I just don't see how you can accept physical strength as you determining factor in how to settle something. I mean, Christianity in general, seems pretty clear on the idea that words and God can bring people together, regardless of the hostility of an opposing party. (Not always, but as what I see as an overall theme).
