A little help...anyone who flys regularly

Hi. My mom wants to get to California to see her sister and wants to leave two days after Christmas from NY.

She is basically blind so I need to have a direct flight to LAX, connections would be too much for her.

Anyone here have a websight for cheap rates? I normally only fly east of the Mississippi and book Southwest-good carrier, no frills.
They do not have anything direct to California.

I have in the past booked mostly with travel agents to get a car and some other perks in package deals. This time I only need a ticket round trip for her.

Try travelocity maybe? I think you can choose no connections and it lists flights with no layovers.

Probably the cheapest flight will be on JetBlue. They have a Kennedy to Long Beach direct i think.

I love Jet Blue! Wish they went from here to Boston...hopefully they'll expand their routs soon.

I always check a few diffrent sites before I decide....I usualy try Yahoo (which is travelocity.com), Msn (Expeida.com) and cheap tickets, and some of the airlines websites direct.

Two days after Christmas is going to be relatively pricey no matter what...direct flights during peak season can seldom be found for a 'steal' price.

If she can wait a week or 2 it will be much cheaper. Right after christmas will mean packed planes and expensive tickets.

Thanks guys. Reason for being in LA before New Years', her sister will probably get her over to the Rose parade. I've been to it and it's nothing short of spectacular. After that, my aunt got tickets to the Rose Bowl as well, one of the 10 best days of my life.

try JFK to LAX direct on American. i just peeped for you and you can get a ticket from the 27th to 1/3 for about $460. that honestly isn't that bad of a price. and if you call american directly, they can look up similar routes that may have cheaper seats :)

If you can get direct with JetBlue,go with it. Rated best airline...plus it is cheapest..Wish they flew out of Pit!

Thanks, sana. About what I pay most of the time to get to LA.

BTW, I love American for flying to the west coast. I've never been disappointed with them as a whole. Flown United and Delta in the past, they are okay, but just not as good IMHO.

i would say try continental out of EWR too, they are by far the best airline i've flown cross country (though i have yet to try jetBlue). but i know you're coming from the island, so newark would probably be too much of a trek for you.
