So I was watching a show on discovery channel. It had people on it talking about surviving a Grizzly Bear attack; The question crossed my mind, if you had a gun and saw someone getting attacked by a Grizzly Bear, or any other kind of animal for that matter, would you kill the animal to save the person? My thinking is you are in the wilderness and you have now entered into their world, why should that animal die because you entered onto it's ground, or threatened it's offspring. I enjoy the aspect of wilderness and everything that goes with it, and just wondered what everyone else thought about the subject.

Well on the show they shot the Grizzly so I was going on that scenario. You could say you would do one million different things other than shot the Bear, but I was just saying if it was shoot the bear or just let happened what nature intended what would you do?Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostWhy not shoot in the air and try to scare it off? Surely that's better than killing the animal.

What if it was a pedophile? or a rapist? I just say the bear is the innocent one.Originally posted by Shibby View PostWell I have a gun, I'm the fittest. What if it was you getting attacked by the bear, what if it was a family member of yours and you knew someone with a gun stood there and watched.

Now you are stretching. It has to be someone (you) and it most likely is be someones family. What if you had the gun and the bear started attacking you. Do you let it just attack you? The bear is innocent...Originally posted by Konitz View PostWhat if it was a pedophile? or a rapist? I just say the bear is the innocent one.

To a certain extent yes.Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostWhy not shoot in the air and try to scare it off? Surely that's better than killing the animal.
when you shoot a gun in the air, where does the bullet go? It will land after the force of gravity exceeds the velocity coming out of the gun.
With air resistance and wind, the bullet will be carried off somewhere and land. Hopefully not on someone. Best thing to do is kill the bear IF it is attacking a human.

Just shoot the person and be done with it. :hibb:

i would try to get the bear off by scaring him with a gun. but if he was killing the guy i would probably shoot the bear.
i know what your saying about being in the bears home. but i couldn't live with myself if i let someones son die when i could have done something.

I get what he's saying too. Like if the person was already dead I wouldn't go hunting down the bear like I would a murderer.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Posti would try to get the bear off by scaring him with a gun. but if he was killing the guy i would probably shoot the bear.
