  • moving to the us.

    Hello.

I know i haven`t been in here for a while, but i have been wondering about something for about a year now.

I am from denmark in europe, and i have been thinking about moving to the us.

The thing is that for about a year now, i have had an urge to try something new with my life, and i haven`t seen anything else but europe either. So here is my question(s) is it hard for me to find a job in the us? Is it hard to establish a company in the us? Can you tell me how much i have to earn to make a diesent living? I am 29 years old, i am an educated metalworker and welder and also educated truck(??) mechanic, i have fixed pretty much everything with wheels attached to it, and because of 9/11 it was not possible for me to finish the education as a flight mechanic(i only had 14 months left:pissed:) i also have my own company over here selling motorsport engine components and tuning engines, and i could take it with me. If i do not take my company with me perhaps i can help other companys finding their way to the european market as i know all the rules, and which authorities to contact, and i general how to make it work overhere.

I have been thinking about something like new york or florida perhaps, what do think?

One of my friends from denmark have lived in florida for two years and his brother for 17 years, they both say that it is worth it, and they miss it:hibb::rofl: unfortunally they live in denmark again:fight:

I hope you can help me, and please give me some inputs on what to be aware of in general, thanks.

i hope my english is readable:retard::retard:

    Best regards
    logan

Just like anywhere in the world right now, not exactly easy to just find a well paying job. Personally, I wouldn't move anywhere until I had been to the area and knew what type of business I could set up etc..

i would`t just move right away, but try to arrange things to start with, and go and have a look for myself, before leaving permanently..

f ex get in contact with a company, and perhaps they could arrange a place for me to live, and help me getting started, and i could work for them, and maybe also help yhem with their products in europe.. just a thought though...:whistle

maybe we should try that... in denmark there are only 6 million people, in the citys everyone knows who you are, there are only 200 miles from the one end of the country to the other, and it is FLAT, nothing to see and i am getting real sick of it... it is almost impossible to be anonymous, everything is just the same everywhere, and it is barely legal to fart in public.. no fun:tired:

just want to try something new....

i am interested in the country side roads. do you have traffic cameras everywhere like they do in England?

i want to drive on those euro country roads that i see so much of on Top Gear.

actually that depends on how you look at it, the hospital personel is not as skilled as they are f ex in the us. sometimes the waiting period for treatment for f ex canser is so long that some of the patient often die before seeing treatment. if you want to be sure you get treatment relatively fast, you can buy insurance(like in the us) the medical gear, pills etc also cost overhere..
also the wealthy people gets treatment first.. i do not think the authorities like the truth to come out but it is something the newspapers sure like to write about in their papers.. just some of the issues roughly explained..

the country you are refering to is france, everything is free even the taxi to the hospital, and they have skilled personel and almost no waiting for treatment.. and that goes for england and scotland also..:clapback:

Two places I've used for salary info

                            Job Salaries-Performance Reviews-Compensation software- Salary.com

                            and

                            Salary - Yahoo! HotJobs

but you would need to know the zip code of the area you're considering moving to.

As far as making a living here in the U.S. it ain't easy right now, The cost of living is slowly going up and Jobs are scarce for the most part, depending on what area you work in. I can't speak for metalworkers or welders so I'm not sure what that job market is like in those areas. but you could always search Careerbuilder.com to get an idea of how many of jobs are available in those areas. And also, since jobs are scarce alot of employers are low balling the hirees who have experience because they know they need a job.

just my 2cents, hope it helps.

Have no idea about metalworker or mechanic but a union welder in california will start close to 25 per hour then of coarse depending what type of welding you do will determin the pay.
