    You're gonna love Montreal...

First things first...book the hotel THE VERY MINUTE the date of the event is announced, just in case it's not leaked to hotels in advance so you can beat the price hike. If not, be prepared to pay through the nose because they all jack the price on F1 weekend.

I'll recommend you a few places to stay based on my experiences staying up there for Canadiens games and UFC. I'm making these recommendations with the assumption that you've got a healthy amount of disposable income:

    Hotel Le Crystal
Le Crystal Hotel Montreal | Downtown Montreal Luxury Hotel

    W Montreal:
W Hotels Montreal: W Montréal - Hotel Rooms at whotels

    Hotel Le St. James:
Montreal Hotels: Hotel Le St James Historic Old Montreal Quebec Ville Marie McGill University area luxury boutique hotels suites resorts spas family vacations getaways packages weddings meetings events planning

    Loews Hotel Vogue:
Montreal Dining, Montreal Restaurants | Loews Hotels

If you want some slightly cheaper options, let me know...but nothing is going to be a bargain for F1 weekend.

As far as places to eat, I can get more specific if you let me know what kinds of things you generally like to eat. But I'll start with a few solid bets:

    *Steakhouses:

    Queue De Cheval:
Montreal Restaurants - La Queue de Cheval - Montréal, Canada

    Moishe's:
Moishes Steak House - A Premiere Montreal Restaurant

    *Indian:

    Bombay Palace:
    Bombay Palace restaurant Montreal

    Buffet Maharaja:
    Buffet Maharaja - Events

    *Italian:

    Bis Ristorante:
    Home

    *Chinese:

    Le Piment Rouge Windsor
Le Piment Rouge 25 ans d’excellence 25 years of excellence

    *French/Fusion:

    Toqué!:
    Toqué! Restaurant

    DECCA77:
    Contemporary gastronomy

    Brontë:
    BRONTË Restaurant

    *Smoked Meat Sandwiches:

Schwartz's (the best...it looks like a hole but it's the best smoked meat in town)
    Schwartz's - Montreal Hebrew Delicatessen - A Montreal Tradition Since 1928

Dunn's (very good, more convenient location than Schwart's)
MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT RESTAURANT: Dunn’s Famous Montreal

As far as nightlife goes, the possibilities are endless. It's hard to say which clubs will be reserved for special parties on F1 weekend though. I'll just point you to the very best:

    Club Opera:
    Club Opera

And when that party shuts down, this one is just beginning (open til 10am):

    Stereo Nightclub:
    || welcome to stereo v 2009 ||

If you prefer a lounge setting to an out-and-out club atmosphere, then you might prefer Wunderbar:
    Wunderbar

Let me know what other kinds of food you might be interested in, other activities, ect...odds are I've been there and done that in Montreal.

I travelled because I liked to in my late teens and early 20's I think its part of ones life education and learning, every man needs to travel, alone if possible to really learn.

I know your more worldly than the average southern states guy but some of those guys are very travelled to, I once met a guy from Carolina Georgia broder in Vietnam, he had gone back there to heal his mind since He'd fought there in 71. He knew shit loads about the world

I'll fill you in on any new discoveries I make in Montreal also...I'll be there several times between now and when you'll be going there. It's looking like I'll be heading there with a buddy on Saturday to watch the Rangers vs. Canadiens game....we'll probably hit up M:Brgr so I'll let you know if it's a good place to grab a quick bite.

M:Brgr is a gourmet burger bistro affiliated with Moishe's steakhouse
