  • Need some computer/internet help

Rado, I have a feeling you might be able to help me here but anyone feel free to chime in. If I am trying to hide my IP address while I browse, how do I go about it?

What I am basically looking for is this. I want to go to a website and it will register my ip address. If I restart my computer and head to the same address, I want my ip address to be different.

    Anyone help me here?

you have a static IP I take it ? go to run - type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew - shut everything down including the modem restart and see if it works.

Tried it, but it couldn't find the file. I am using vista if it makes a difference

I just checked my modem/router. It says my ip address I get dynamically from my ISP. Does this mean it changes everytime I log on?

yup, you have to pay extra for a static IP w/most isps. So just restart the modem .. restart the comp .. new IP :)

Chances are that he will still recieve the same ip even it's it's dhcp. Even though there is a pool of ip's just power cycling the modem/router may not do it. If it doesn't try leaving it off for a little while before powering back up. A lot of the times when you do power cycle you end up grabbing the same ip.

I'm not doing anything illegal. some sites I visit I just prefer not to have linked to my id addy. NOt that big of a deal, but for safety reasons I prefer it.
