And Im just pointing out, if you believe the government has the right to own that word and discriminate against certain couples...you have a very bigoted point of view.

Im also, not trying to start a fight or anything. Just make a point about how you should reflect on your feelings about the gays.

      • when I reflect on it , it's the people who push for it that tend to turn me off from it. If people were more easier going in general the problem wouldn't exist. But it does to me and I don't want to go into it much more man, it's how I am, like I said no offense to your view, that's yours and I respect the right to an opinion.

I wasn't specifying race. Race, single parent, sex out of marriage... So many things. As people stop being so obsessed about what people do in the bedroom it wouldn't be hard for the kids.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into this, but I have to mention how hypocritical it is to be ok with civil union and not support gay marriage. It's a copout. Marriage between a man and a woman is an excuse theist use to hide behind their archaic way of life. How is this proven? As soon as a state starts recognizing civil unions you have all these homophobic people placing a vote on allowing civil unions.

          • I see what you mean shibb - I'm just not there as a person , maybe it's being a bigot or something else , I don't know shit about the government and marriage rights etc .. just saying the way I feel about it right now, if things change I'll re-aval then. If that means i'm a bigot or whatever, so be it for now - cheers.

I'm not going to say what you are or aren't. But feeling the way you do without knowing why, is just another example of someone else fears and prejudice being passed on to the next generation. These feelings are not instinctual, they are taught.

bla bla. they give you a title. in a world with well over a 50% divorce rate, cheating, abuse etc.. surprised anyone wants to get married anymore. seems like a negative to me..

They do give you a title and it's one that comes with legal benefits. There are a lot of legal points to it. A major part of the issue. It's just been a few years that some companies extend benefits to a domestic partner. While the title itself is irrelevant it's the recognition that comes with it that has meaning. The amount is dependent on the couple.

i agree, but traditional heterosexual couples have been taking advantage of the legal system as well. i mean, i read a few articles about gay couples (1 homosexual female couple and 1 homosexual male couple) marrying the opposite sex for the sole purpose of receiving those legal benefits. people get married all the time to reap the benefits (immigration is the biggest issue i can think of), so what is wrong with homosexuals who actually do want to be together and want to receive them?

hahaha, i'm just stating it because he was implying that the legal aspects are the reasons why some people are against the legalization of gay marriage. but the fact is people can abuse that aspect of our system easily.
