the mclaren starts to really die at around 150mph. stops climbing and slowly crawls. the bugatti dosent. it only starts to crawl around 230 to get to its top speed of 250 something.

anywhere from 0-150 mph they are very similar. but that last 100 mph the mclaren is like you VS Cutler on stage. cant even be considered the same species. :rofl:

hmm ok then well as I said its still not a real race car and neither is the mustang, both pale in terms of achievement compared to a car 15 years their predeccessor IMO

i was doing like 135 mph nearest i could tell by the speedometer the other day on a empty smooth highway in north western new jersey. (bout 9 am Sunday morning) even at the speed things get a little scary. its stops being about where you are but more where you are going to be. like you to look ahead for any slight hills or bumps because at that speed you are there in a split second. things are a bit of a blur even at that speed. i cannot imagine going another 120mph faster then that. crazy shit.

Very good informative summary of how hard it is to push the speed boundary and how much more power your need to get a little faster, becomes diminishing returns.

What you need to understand, what I'm trying to get accross is that this kind of logic, this kind of strategy is old, very old, James describes it as a concorde moment and it is in a way, but if it is then so is every other car thats got the fastest record before. To me thats impressive, but not really historic.


Adding more power to something to get it to go faster id basic, admittedly there's the aerodynamics aspect also. But take a step back and its just another AC Cobra 427, a jaguar XJ220 blah blah. Big power cars

p.s. they say the top speed of the 370 is around 155-160 mph but i dont know if i believe it.

at 135 the car was starting to feel a little unstable on newly paved roads. you would need absolutely perfect conditions and a long road to get up to close to 155-160.

Did 135 in Legend on Route 301 on a bridge leaving a Legend car meet. There was traffic and there was another legend in front of me leading. Shit had a Type II motor, and has extra 30hp over me :fight:
