when i got pulled over for my speeding ticket i didn't get asked for insurance either. it's just "license and registration". any time you get pulled over it's always been that.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postcan anyone else back him up on this? i have never heard of a cop not asking for your insurance. that is insane. people could just register the car with insurance and then stop paying. lol

is this a southern thing or is it just maryland. i cannot believe cops in your state do not need to see your insurance. still not sure i can believe it.Originally posted by dbjmofo View Postwhen i got pulled over for my speeding ticket i didn't get asked for insurance either. it's just "license and registration". any time you get pulled over it's always been that.

i got pulled over once for going 70 in a 45 and i didn't get asked for proof of insurance. they did call my mom though. in MD if you're under 18 and you get pulled over for going more than 20 over they have to call your parents.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postis this a southern thing or is it just maryland. i cannot believe cops in your state do not need to see your insurance. still not sure i can believe it.
but as for insurance, i do have it ready but have never been asked to show it. i don't know why but then again it could be because they were pulling over in-state cars too.

well then, i don't know. maybe Maryland has a centralized system where if you have MD plates your insurance company has to show proof of car insurance to the state which then links it to you car through the MVA. other than that, i have no explanation.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postno. jersey cops ask for proof of insurance no matter what. out of state or in state tags.

They use to ask for insurance in Georgia all the time, but a couple of years ago a cop buddy said that they integrated the proof of insurance into their system, so that they really didn't have to ask anymore.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postis this a southern thing or is it just maryland. i cannot believe cops in your state do not need to see your insurance. still not sure i can believe it.
I wasn't asked for proof of insurance the last time I got a ticket, or the last time I got pulled over.

Wyoming has an integrated system... not sure about other states. i'm assuming MD does too.
"The patrol has been using a computerized insurance verification system since last July. Troopers only have been looking up insurance information while investigating accidents.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation says starting Monday, troopers will look up insurance information during traffic stops. WyDOT says the goal is to find out when people get auto insurance just to license a vehicle and then cancel that insurance."
